7 Things To Know About Magic Kingdom’s Opening Procedures

Magic Kingdom has a new opening procedure in the mornings. Here are 7 things you need to know:

1. The park opens between 7:45 – 8:00 AM for everyone. If you want to be the first in line to enter the Magic Kingdom or to line up for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, you are going to have to get to the Magic Kingdom before 7:45 AM. Which means you are going to need to be getting on a bus to the Magic Kingdom by 7:00 AM to make it on time.

2. Early breakfast reservations have lost some of their appeal. The main draw to booking an early breakfast reservation was taking pictures of your family on a nearly deserted Main Street. Now they let regular Guests and dining reservation Guests in at the same exact time. If you book a Be Our Guest or a Cinderella Royal Table reservation and you finish your breakfast before 9:00 AM, you will be allowed to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train before the other waiting Guests.

3. There are multiple ropes within the park and you need to line up at the one that will take you to your desired attraction.

• The rope to the right over the Fantasyland bridge is your best route for Seven Dwarfs.
• The rope to the right over the Tomorrowland bridge is your best route for Space Mountain.
• The ropes in front of the castle blocking the two paths up the side of the castle are your best bets for Peter Pan’s Flight and the other attractions in Fantasyland (excluding Seven Dwarfs).
• The rope over Liberty Square bridge is your best bet for Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain.
• The rope over the Adventureland bridge is your best bet for Pirates of the Caribbean. It could also be a route to Splash Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain.

4.  Seven Dwarfs Mine Train remains the most popular attraction. If you plan to ride 7 Dwarfs you will need to line up to the rope on the right side of the castle that will take you over the Fantasyland bridge. You will not be able to see the welcome show from this line so go ahead and let your kids know ahead of time.

5. Shopping and dining options now available on Main Street. When the park opens at 7:45 AM, you can shop in the Emporium or pick up breakfast from The Main Street Bakery, Casey’s Corner or The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor. This is a good idea if your goal is not to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. I suggest being in line at the alternate ropes by 8:40 AM.

6. Get great pictures of your family. The Photopass photographers are out and about on Main Street before the park opens to take your family’s pictures. Wear your ears and visit multiple photographers for completely different photo opps. One might even be worthy of your Christmas card.

7. The new Welcome Show. To view the new welcome show, make sure you can see the castle stage. You can choose to line up directly in front of the castle or choose a spot near your desired rope that offers a view of the stage. The Welcome Show will start at 8:55 AM.
