Are you considering traveling to Walt Disney World with other people? We have visited with both friends and family and we picked up a few tips along the way.
1. Do not think you have to plan every moment together – The biggest mistake you can make is thinking that you always have to be together. Instead, split up at the parks (or sleep in!) and later meet up for lunch and/or dinner to talk about your adventures. Make sure you talk about it before the trip so they know that you are perfectly fine with them doing what they want. It is their vacation too!
2. Have a plan if your phone dies – Instead of calling the rest of your party to find out where they are when you are ready to join them, have a planned meeting time and location just in case your phone was to die or lose service. You don’t want to waste valuable vacation time trying to locate each other.
3. Book separate rooms – Pop Century is one of the cheapest resorts on Disney property and they also have connecting rooms. Book multiple rooms at this resort so each family can have their own space but you can easily get together.
4. Book a villa – Disney has 2 and 3 bedroom villas available at many of their deluxe resorts that include a kitchen where you can prepare your meals. If you are not members of the Disney Vacation Club, you can still save money by Renting DVC Points From Disney Vacation Club Members. Both families can split the cost of the room making it extremely affordable.
5. Plan your pictures – If you want pictures of your entire party in front of Cinderella’s Castle or with your favorite characters, plan a time in your itinerary for picture taking. This way, everyone will be smiling and happy to be together instead of thinking about what they would rather be doing.
6. Ask each guest what they want to do – Ask every guest that is traveling with you to make a list of the top 3 things that they really want to do on the vacation and use this list to make your touring plan. By including what everyone wants to do but keeping it to a reasonable limit, you will make the vacation less stressful for everyone.
7. Plan a date night – If you have little kids, ask your traveling companions to watch them one night so you and your spouse can enjoy a date night. This will recharge your batteries and if you have never experienced Disney without kids, it has a completely different feel to it! If they have kids, arrange for them to have a date night too.
Walt Disney World is the place to make memories with your family and friends. By taking the time to plan out your trip, you can help everyone have a magical time.
