Whether it’s a big family trip, a romantic getaway, or girls trip, what you have in your carry on can make or break your flight to Walt Disney World.
These go- to essentials will help make the start of your trip a little more magical.
1.Hand Sanitizer/Wet Wipes
Sticky tray tables. Airport bathrooms. Millions of people all traveling to Orlando from across the world for the opening of Galaxy’s Edge. You’re prepared for how to deal with germs once you get to the House of Mouse (I see those Clorox wipes in your luggage!) but don’t forget about travel germs as well. Having hand sanitizer and/ or wipes on your will help you stay clean, germ-free, and healthy for your journey as well as your destination.
2. Clothes (Change of, Bathing Suit, etc)
Clothes? This sounds like my luggage, Kristen B! How am I going to fit clothes in my carry on?? Hear me out. If you are taking advantage of the luggage service that Disney offers with the Magical Express, know that your luggage may not make it to the room until hours after you do. If you have big plans of swimming in the Big Blue Pool, or going for a fancy bite at your resort’s table service restaurant, then bring what you need in your carry on. You don’t want to be waiting around for your luggage when you could be out starting your vacation!
And while we’re talking about clothes, dress in layers and consider brining a light hoodie or shawl. Temperatures on travel vehicles can vary, so this is a good bet for staying comfortable. And bonus, it clears up some room in your luggage!
3. Water Bottle
Staying hydrated while flying is key, because of the air quality on planes. But once you land, you’re in the hot, hot Florida sun and you’ve still got a Magical Express ride ahead of you. Bus air isn’t much better than plane air, so keep that water handy. Nothing is more of a bummer than a sick afternoon at the start of your vacation due to dehydration. Grab that water bottle!
4. Your Magic Band
Your Magic Band is the key to all things Disney: rides, dining reservations, even your resort room! So double check and triple check that your magic bands are safely stowed in your carry on. Remember, you don’t want to be without those while you wait for your luggage.
5. Your Magical Express Confirmation
When you signed up for Disney’s Magical Express service, they sent you a confirmation in the mail along with your luggage tags. This has your flight and party info. Keep this on you for a smooth transition at MCO (the Orlando airport.)
6. In Flight Entertainment
Don’t wait until you touch down in Orlando for vacation to start! Check out our 5 ways to start the magic during your travel time and make the journey pass by in a link of an eye.
7. Healthy Snacks
Planes, buses, and the ginormous Orlando airport. You’ve got to keep your strength up! Pack some healthy, energy boosting, non-dehydrating snacks like nuts, dried fruit, or apples and oranges. These will go easy on tum, keeping it safe from travel bloat and unease, while give you the strength to reach the castle! And, brownie points, keep you from spending money in the food courts of the airport. Save those dollars for Mickey bars!
8. Essential Medications
You don’t want to be without your (insert your medicine here) in the event of lost or delayed luggage. Keep your meds with you, so you can enjoy the time until your luggage arrives worry free.
9. Your Power Supply
In my carry on, I have my iPhone charger, my FitBit charger, and my rechargeable battery. Sometimes I throw in my iPod charger too, just for fun. Keep your batteries on you, in the event of flight delays, cancelation, or your child draining their iPad battery ten minutes into the flight.
Which one of these is your most crucial? Was there a carry on item we forgot? Tell me in the comments!
