Hello Couponing to Disney readers! I’m Carrie, vacation specialist with Destinations in Florida-an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner-and I visit you each week here on Couponing to Disney to answer some Disney FAQs. I love hanging out on Couponing to Disney every week with you, answering questions about the Happiest Place on Earth! But today, we are going to talk about Disney Cruise Line. With the itineraries out for the remainder of 2015-and new sailings announced to Norway from Copenhagen for you die hard Frozen fans-I want to share with you some planning tips for Disney Cruise Line.
Which deck on Disney Cruise Line do you recommend we book?
On Disney Cruise Line, you can’t go wrong with any location on the ship. Decks 7, 8, or 9 are the best to enjoy while on Disney Cruise Line. These are in the middle of the ships, and provide easy access to all the activities and dining-either a few decks up or a few down. You’ll be conveniently located to all the activities, entertainment, and dining available!
What airport do I need to use if I am cruising out of Port Canaveral or Miami?
If you are cruising out of Port Canaveral, you will want to fly into Orlando International {MCO}. Cruising out of Miami, Florida, you will want to fly into Miami. Disney Cruise Line provides transportation to guests embarking on a Disney Cruise from both of these airports. The cost for round trip ground transfers is $70 per person.
What is a Land and Sea Package?
A Land and Sea Package is exactly what it sounds like-you enjoy a few nights in a Disney Resort and tour the Disney parks and then set sail for a Disney Cruise out of Port Canaveral. Or, vice versa. A great way to schedule a Land/Sea Package is to enjoy 4 nights at the Disney Parks before your cruise, and then cruise out to the Bahamas on a 3 night voyage with a stop in Castaway Cay.
What makes Disney Cruise Line different from others?
Disney Cruise Line stands out from other cruise lines in several areas. First, Disney Cruise Line is an all-inclusive cruise line. With the exception of gratuities, alcohol, spa treatments, and two specialty restaurants, all your food is included. Also, Disney Cruise Line utilizes rotational dining. That means that for each meal, you rotate to a new restaurant onboard for a new menu, new experience, but with the same server. All your Broadway caliber Disney entertainment, as well as onboard kids clubs, movies, family clubs and activities are included. Disney Cruise Line also is the only cruise line to have fireworks during your cruise! And, they have the largest staterooms of all the cruise lines.
Do I need a passport to cruise to the Bahamas?
Passports are highly recommend when cruising to the Bahamas. Yes, it is a closed loop cruise. But, you are technically leaving the United States. Should an emergency arise, and you need to return to the US, that process is expedited and easier with a passport.
What flight times do you recommend I schedule into Orlando?
Ideally, flying in the night before your cruise is the best option. Perhaps enjoy a night at a Disney resort, or a resort in the Orlando area. If that is not an option, then you will want a flight scheduled to arrive in Orlando no later than 12:30, and departing out of Orlando sometime after 11AM on your return. This allows time to check in at the Disney Welcome Center, as well as board the Disney Cruise Line transfer service and enjoy the ship before departure at 4PM.
