Busses, boats, the Monorail and more are available for guests of Disney World. Below is a list of all the current modes of transportation at Disney World. Which is your favorite?
1. Magical Express
Magical Express is often the first form of Disney transportation guests take. For those flying in and staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, the Magical Express is complimentary coach transportation to and from the airport. Read, what you need to know about the Magical Express.
2. The Monorail
This mode of transportation is a ride in itself! Every guest should experience a ride on the Monorail to fully experience classic Disney. The Monorail makes the following stops: Magic Kingdom, Contemporary Resort, Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Polynesian and the Transportation and Ticket Center.
3. Walt Disney World Railroad
Take a break and ride the Train around Magic Kingdom park instead of walking. There are 3 stops around the park, at Main St, Fantasyland and Frontierland. Use the train to head to the back of the park, or back to the front when leaving. Or take the 1.5 mile, 20 minute scenic ride from start to finish. This attraction will be closed during Tron construction.
4. Car
Your own car or a rented car is still a choice for transportation to and around Disney. Do read: what you need to know about Parking at your Resort, including cost to park!
5. The Tram
For those driving in and parking at Magic Kingdom on their first day, the Tram could be your first official Disney ride! The parking lot tram was built to move briskly, getting you across the parking lot safely and timely. Plus the drivers usually share fun tips and facts.
6. Disney Busses
Guests of Disney World Resorts will enjoy complimentary and continuous transportation throughout the day on Disney’s busses. Travel to all 4 theme parks, Disney water parks, hotels and Disney Springs area. The buses are air conditioned for guest comfort. Even better, guests can now check their My Disney Experience app for current wait times.
7. Taxi
While not magical in any way, a quick and classic option is to call a taxi. Or, ask the front desk to call for a Taxi for you. If you look for one yourself, be sure to only go with Taxis that have meters. Since this option does cost, I would only reserve for a special circumstance.
8. Water Taxi
Guests of select Resorts can head to Magic Kingdom by water launch, also called Water Taxi. Take a water taxi to Magic Kingdom from: Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Polynesian Resort, Fort Wilderness Resort and Wilderness Lodge.
9. Ferryboats
Another by boat transportation is Ferryboats, connecting select parks and Resorts. Guests of Boardwalk Inn, Beach Club & Yacht Club Resorts, Swan and Dolphin hotels can take a Ferryboat to either Epcot or Hollywood Studios. Also take a Ferryboat to Disney Springs, for guests of Old Key West, Saratoga Springs and both Port Orleans Resorts.
10. Minnie Van
Ride the official rideshare of Disney with Lyft and Minnie Van. Order a Minnie Van through the Lyft App, choose to order this extra cost transportation if you are short on time. Or, if you just want to ride in the fun polka-dotted cars! Learn more about Minnie Van Transportation.
