I feel like I won the Disney fund jackpot! My favorite thing about choosing to stay home is the extra money in my budgeted categories. It is a new month that means a new budget. Leftover money from my budgeted categories gets rolled into my Disney fund. Like many of you we couldn’t go anywhere including eating out for all of April. Then add in the super duper cheap price of gas and that leads to some serious savings. It is raining twenty dollar bills in my house!
My gas budget is $300.00 a month. For April we only spent $96.73. That gives me $203.37 to add into my Disney fund just from gas savings alone! My eating out and grocery budget is combined and is $1200.00 a month. It includes hygiene products, paper products, vitamins, cleaning products, and food. I only spent $896.57 for the month of April. That gives me a whopping $303.43 extra. Just in found money from my budget. I am adding all $506.80 to my Disney fund!!!
If I wasn’t living on a budget I am positive that money would of just disappeared into thin air. Living on a budget helps you stay on track, and gives you freedom to tell your money where to go. Before I started using a budget. Within a week after getting paid the money had disappeared. I would look back over my bank statements wondering why. I would quickly learn month after month all those trips to Target and eating out add up. That would lead me to rely on credit cards to make it thru the month. Which would turn into massive amount of consumer debt. The vicious cycle went on and on. Until finally I decided enough. It was time for me to be in control of my money.
Previously I have used a few different budgeting methods. They all worked okay with tweaks here and there. But none where a perfect match until Kristin wrote her course. Currently, I use the worksheets inside the Couponing To Disney course for my budget. If you would like to know more you can click here!

For the plane tickets I would like to earn the money needed by the end of this year. That gives me 8 months to make that happen. If you break it down by the monthly amount needed it is $250.00. That comes out to $62.50 per week. I like to have both a monthly and weekly goal. Some weeks are going to feel like I am rolling in the dough. Other weeks not so much. On those weeks that aren’t so awesome it is nice to be able to look at my monthly goal and see if I am on track or not. 99.99% of the time my monthly goal will be on track or better than expected.
