A lot of folks have turned to using Walmart Grocery Pick-Up more often since the Rumpus shook our worlds- and now that Ibotta allows you to earn from Grocery Pick-Up, I am living my best life.
But- what happens when you have an issue? I had a few ears of underdeveloped corn on one trip, and a loaf of bread which had a same-day expiration date on another. What is a frugal shopper to do? Should I mask up and go to the store to return the offending items, even though I chose Pick-Up specifically to avoid stepping food in the building? NO- because you can return those groceries from the comfort of your couch, friends.
First, open your Walmart app! You’ll want to select Pickup & delivery. Once there, choose the three lines in the upper left corner to reveal a menu. Scroll down to “Purchase History” under the Account header.
Your most recent order will be displayed, but you can scroll down choose from a past order as well. Choose “Start a return”.
From there, it’s very simple! Step 1: Select the item(s) that aren’t up to standard.
Step 2: Select the reason you are returning the item. You can also choose how many of the items you have an issue with, so in the case of my 3 underdeveloped ears of corn, I clicked the number, and then chose + until I got to 3. I am pleased to say I’ve never had an issue with “missing item”. They may have had other issues, but I’ve always received everything I paid for!
Step 3: Review your request and then submit for return! No worries, my orange was perfectly fine, I just wanted to give you guys an idea of what the entire process looks like! From this point my card has been credited and I was able to discard the food that was poor quality or expired.
Also, did you catch I switched from cheese to an orange? Yup, my phone had a small hiccup as I was getting screenshots, so congratulations to you for paying attention!

August 2022- did grocery pick up and my ice cream bars were melted. Initiated return process in the app and at the final screen it said “discard or donate the item. No need to return to store”
Thank you!

I am so glad I saw this. They are running about an hour behind today, ao the SECOND I got the notifications for substitutions the window was already closed. They switched to things I am allergic to and could not change it. Thank you!

The substitutions button is missing from the website and app. If I dont want a substitution for an item, there is nowhere to specify this as the button is now missing… Anyone know what to do? they delivered all the wrong items because i couldnt find the sub button to decline substitutions.

This was so helpful because I was online searching for how to get refunded for missing groceries and found you. So quick, I thought I would need to either wait on hold or go to the store to complain.
I so far have never had problems with the quality of their food-just today they left out a few items. So if anyone else has missing items-you start a return and they have “missing items” from the reason. So easy!

Will Walmart pick up a delivered grocery item for a return? I have some things that are not perishable and also not food items that need to be returned. I don’t want to go to the store. That’s why I chose delivery
Anon says
No, and this advice is inaccurate. You have to bring the items back to the store for a refund.

I didn’t know you can earn/use Ibotta through pickup! That is the only reason why I never do it!
Oh my thank you for this!

I am so glad to have helped! It’s fairly new!
