Welcome to February! Hopefully the dreary earning days are behind me for a bit. I have to admit I love the first week in the month because that’s when several of my monthly panels pay out! I get to cash out my discounted Swagbucks gift card (although I’ve finally run through my banked points, so I gotta get going on that again) and overall I really look like I did something amazing with my earnings.
It’s Sunday, so I’m doing the menu planning for the week. Sometimes when I’m feeling squirrely I plan two weeks at once. This is almost always a recipe for failure, don’t ask me why. It starts out so great, look at me, so motivated! And the pplllrrbbbb it all goes downhill. I get tired, we get a day off schedule, my husband neglects to tell me about a meeting he has or some such thing and then it’s spiraling out of control and we end up eating frozen chicken nuggets three days that week.
Which brings me to a quick money saving tip for you. Keep frozen fast food on hand. I know that sounds odd, but hear me out. Frozen pizza, fish sticks, chicken nuggets, whatever you like- make sure you have it. When your meal plan goes sideways, or you’re just tired or sick or stressed or whatever it is- go to the freezer, and make your frozen fast food. It’s still cheaper than letting McDonalds heat up some nuggets, or going to Pizza Hut. Because let’s be honest, when you’re having one of those days that kicks your butt from the time you roll out of bed, you don’t feel like cooking from scratch. Rather than trying to pretend it will never happen, just go ahead and have some things on hand so that when it does, you still save some dollars.
I did great with crafts this week! When I consider what to put down as my craft earnings, I always make sure to take out the cost of materials. This is pure profit! I pay back our savings account for the cost of the materials with each sale.
I am part of two monthly panels revolving around what my kid things about toys, shows, etc. They only pay out once a month, but oh my gosh it’s a good day when they do, especially when there are extra earning opportunities!
