You can add extra magic to your trip by celebrating your birthday at Walt Disney World.
FREE Things For Your Birthday
When you make your resort and dining reservations, tell the Cast Member or your Disney Authorized Vacation Planner know that you are celebrating a birthday so they can note it on your reservation. You might just find a birthday card from Mickey in your room during your stay! (Don’t count on it but it is a magical surprise if you do.)
Stop by Guest Services in any of the theme parks to get your FREE Birthday Button. Wear it proudly and you will get birthday wishes from Cast Members and guests. I’ll never forget our first trip when we were there for Emily’s 5th birthday and a dancer in the parade wished her a Happy Birthday and she gave me the strangest look. How did he know it was her birthday?
At each restaurant that you dine at, let them know that you are celebrating a birthday. You might just receive a special birthday cupcake or a birthday card autographed by the characters (this is at the character meals). Don’t count on receiving it, but it is a nice surprise if you do!
You can also get a special birthday greeting by calling the front desk at your Disney Resort or stopping by Guest Services.
Pay For Birthday Extras
If you are dining at a table-service restaurant, you can order a six inch celebration cake at check-in for $21.00 plus tax. Just let the Cast Member checking you in know that you would like to purchase one.
You can special-order a cake at Walt Disney World by calling 407-827-2253 between 3-28 days before you will need the cake. Prices start at $15 (for a single serve) and go up from there. The cake can be delivered to specific restaurants or to your room if your resort offers private dining. Learn more about ordering cakes from Disney at Disney Travel Babble.
If you have a reservation at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for her birthday, be sure to let the Fairy Godmother In Training know that it is her birthday. She might just receive a birthday sash instead of a standard one.
If you are dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table, you can add the Her Royal Highness Package to your reservation. It will come with a balloon and princess-themed cake. This isn’t birthday specific so you can add it even if she isn’t celebrating her birthday. Email [email protected] to add this to your existing reservation.
On any of the days before or after your child’s birthday, you can book them a Wonderland Tea Party to celebrate their unbirthday. This party is for ages 4 to 12 and is located at 1900 Park Fare. Book by calling (407) 939-1947.
Purchase a set of birthday mouse ears and wear them proudly.
Before leaving home, purchase a selection of Disney themed birthday cards. Have the characters secretly sign these (by standing in line behind your children and having your partner escort them off to the side after they meet the character) and present them to your child on their birthday.
You can order an in-room gift from Disney Floral and Gifts to be delivered during your stay.
If you dine at 1900 Park Fare for your birthday, you might just get a placemat autographed by the characters that meet during both breakfast and dinner! Emily received hers in 2009 for her 5th birthday.

For my granddaughter’s 6th birthday (at Disney), while leaving Pop Century, we rode down the elevator with the housekeeping manager. She wished Alexa a happy birthday. Alexa admired the foam disney stickers on her clip board. She told Alexa that she would make sure that Alexa and her sister Sophia had some stickers waiting in our room. When we returned for the day, the table was covered with stickers and an autographed “Happpy Birthday Alexa” 8×10 pic of Cinderella in front of the castle,& towels formed in the shape of a birthday cake. Disney goes all the way to make visits special.
