Stories like this is why I do what I do everyday! Danielle shared this in the Savears.
Share…This is Bug and I. He is my youngest and he is potty training…going on three in a month and doing phenomenal. When I say potty training, I mean he only wears a diaper at night, which to me means we are at the end of diapers, and that leads me full circle.
I can’t help but think it was diapers that made me start couponing. My husband and I got pregnant with our daughter, with no insurance and no one to turn to. (I mean literally, we could get no help.) He had a job, I had just graduated and took on what ever work I could. We were broke, scared and had no idea what to do. There were two major sites/blogs that helped me learn to do what it is I do…I look at myself as the CEO of our household budget. I learned to bargain with EVERYONE (even the hospitals…that’s right: I shopped hospitals to see who could cut us a deal on having our daughter out of pocket). Couponing to Disney/Kristin Cooper was one of those sites…I can’t thank her enough.
It is because of this skill that I am a stay at home mother of three…they are stacked and are the best of friends. Our house is a frenzy and life is hectic, but we are well fed, ever so blessed and NEVER are really in want for anything. It’s nice, and even in the moments when I wonder how it is we are going to make it, I know I have it oh, so good.
The diapers bring me full circle. Soon I will not have to cut coupons for diapers; or check my CVS app for the diaper stacking deals; or look to see how many I have in my stock pile; or get wipes for free (although, if I can do this I will and donate them…I mean, why not?). It’s a bittersweet moment. It is the end of the beginning of my couponing journey but one that makes me happy. Now I can put those dollars and cents towards other things: large, tacky toys my kids want (Ha!) or the vacation we are soon to take. :) I have a different attitude towards saving and it means my family and I can do/have so much more.
