My mother-in-law has been making this delicious Taco Casserole Recipe for years. I finally asked her for the recipe and dang is it good!
Ingredients:
8 oz can of refrigerated crescent rolls
8 oz of ground turkey or beef
1 chopped green bell pepper
1/2 cup of chopped onion
15 oz can of tomato sauce
15 oz can of kidney beans, drained
1 packet of taco seasoning
8 oz of shredded taco cheese
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. In a large skillet, add the onions, green pepper and ground beef. Cook until the meat is browned and the vegetables are cooked through.
While those are cooking, get a 9 x 13 casserole dish and spray with cooking spray. Lay out the crescent roll in the bottom of the pan. Press the creases together so there is no gap.
Bake in the oven for 6 minutes so the crescent rolls will brown as a crust.
Once the meat mixture is cooked through, add the tomato sauce, kidney beans and taco seasoning. Lower the heat and simmer.
Once the crescent rolls are browned, remove from the oven and add the meat mixture.
Return to the oven and bake for 10 minutes.
Remove and top with cheese. Bake for another 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.
