Disney California Adventure re-opened and Carsland officially opened this week! The place is more then a little crowded with fans trying to get a real life glimpse of Radiator springs.
The layout of Carsland is just like the movie. The rides are exactly where their areas are in the movie which is a great feature if you are familiar with the movie. The architecture and the mountains are very real looking and they have done a lot of great work on them. It is nothing like the rest of the park, so you feel very much like you have left the Disney parks and entered radiator springs.
There is 3 rides in Carsland: Maters Junkyard Jamboree, Luigi’s Flying Tires and Radiator Springs Racers. Each ride is unique to the character they are modeled after. They are very similar to rides already in Disneyland but with their own little twist. For instance the Flying Tires is similar to bumper cars but on hover type crafts instead of cars that you control with your body weight.
There is 1 restaurant and 1 snack location. Floes V8 Cafe is the restaurant and they serve comfort food type items. Mashed potatoes , gravy, strips of meat, ect… The Cozy Cone is snack items. Each cone has it’s own item. One has Churro Bites, another has popcorn, another has Chili-“cone” queso. This area also has a few tables you can sit at.
There are 3 stores in Carsland: Sarge’s, Ramone’s paint shop, and Lizzie’s souvenir shop. Sarge’s carries mostly cars related toys. Ramone’s paint shop has Clothing, and Lizzie’s carries general souvenir merchandise. They have a lot of merchandise unique to cars land so if you are looking for a special memory form going to cars land for the first time be sure to check out these stores!
They also opened Buena Vista Street. You can now walk straight to Hollywood and the rest of California Adventure through Buena Vista street. They have introduced a few new shows and acts with the re-opening. The characters are also out in full force in their 1920’s styles!

I was there on Friday as well! Lucky for me, I was alone and used the single rider line on Radiator Springs. Got to go on it 5 times. I talk to one person that had slept in the plaza overnight and was just getting on it at 4 PM. I also talked with someone that had stood in line for 7 hours. It was a great ride! I didn’t get to get on the other rides in the new land but the details are awesome! I also loved that there is now a Starbuck’s inside the park on Buena Vista Street.
I was there, We had 3 day passes and planned on skipping Friday, we took DD to the beach and the American Girl Store, but my older son went in right at 10:00 am and then he and my hubby went in at 5:30 and walked around and then Hubby took DD back to swim and I went in with my son. We got there after they lit it up for the night, it is so wonderful all lite up at night. We got in the single rider line for the racers and were on cars in 50 minutes. People waiting without fast passes had a 4 hour wait!
We were there Friday! It was awesome, but very crowded! It will definitely impress all the Cars fans out there!
we can’t wait to check out Carsland too!! Hopefully next off season =-) thanks for sharing!
