Just a note on the gratuity…
My family has gone twice utilizing the standard dining plan.
One trip, there were 5 of us. We were under no obligation to tip at any table service meal.
I didn’t want the 18% gratuity idea to scare people off.
Some of these restaurants are expensive and 18% adds up quick.
However, our second trip was with other family members and we had 9 people with us.
They did add on 18% gratuity automatically.
The fine print states that parties of 6 or more are automatically charged 18% gratuity, which is an additional out of pocket expense.
Both times, we did get the dining plan for free through the seasonal specials that Disney has.
But keep in mind, if you are traveling with 6 or more… if you really don’t want that cheesecake, don’t order it because it’s free… you are really paying 18% of the listed price for it.

If you don’t want to tip 18% you shouldn’t go to a restaurant at all.
