It’s time to strap on those Tutu’s, Tiaras and Tennis shoes! Princess Half Marathon
weekend is in 2 weeks! Princess Half Marathon weekend is a weekend full of runs
and races for every age to participate in. The weekend kicks off with the Disney Fit
for a Princess Expo at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. There, runners and
spectators can pick up race packets, listen to some great guest speakers and even
shop for the latest and greatest in running gear and technology.
The first run of the weekend is the Cinderella Royal Family 5K on Friday, February 21st. The Cinderella Royal Family 5K is an untimed fun-run leading the participants on a course through Epcot.
There are two sets of runDisney Kid’s Races over the weekend. Children ages 13
and under can be a part of the runDisney Kid’s Races so they can earn a finisher
medallion just like Mom or Dad. The kid’s races include the infant Diaper Dash,
100m, 200m, 400m, and 1 Mile Run.
In 2014, we have the brand new race with a brand new medal. The Enchanted 10K
is a 6.2 mile run that will take runners on a course through Epcot before crossing
the finish line just outside of Epcot. This race kicks off on Saturday and is sure to be
a success.
On Sunday, the action heats up with the Princess Half Marathon where runners will
take a 13.1 mile course leading them through both Epcot® and Magic Kingdom.
This is surely a run fit for a princess!
Also new this year is the Glass Slipper Challenge! Participants can put their
endurance to the test with this 19.3-mile run held over 2 days. Participants will run
in The Enchanted 10K on Saturday, followed by the Princess Half Marathon on
Sunday. Participants who finish both runs will be rewarded with the all-new Glass
Slipper Challenge medal in addition to their other finisher medals.
Please note, if you are planning to attend the parks this weekend, For Guests
driving to Epcot® on Sunday morning, EXPECT SIGNIFICANT DELAYS! Please also
note, directions from a GPS device or other source will be inaccurate on Sunday due
to road closures. Some roads begin to close as early as 11:00 p.m. on the evening
before the Half Marathon.
