This review comes from my reader Chris…
Why did you choose this resort? I wanted to have an awesome “big” time with DS and DD before they graduated from high school. I wanted it to be the vacation of all vacations. I also picked it for the theming and Stormalong Bay
What were the resort rooms like? Were they big enough for your family? Did you find them to be acceptable? The resort rooms were decorated in light airy decorations and a very beachy look. We had two queen beds and a daybed. We usually travel with me, DH, DS20, DD19, and DD’s BFF. DD and her BFF took one bed, DH and I took the other bed, and 6’2” DS took the daybed (it was “his” bed—do not use it to sit on! LOL). We had plenty of room for all of us and a weeks worth of stuff with us. We had asked for a room “closest to EPCOT”. The room we received was on the end close to EPCOT and was a bottom floor room with a little patio outside. We were so close to EPCOT that it took us two minutes to walk from our room to the International Gateway and we could sit in the room with the sliding doors open to hear the music from EPCOT. We were right across from the bridge to the Boardwalk. The location was the farthest from the parking lot, but since we never went back to the car, that didn’t matter to us. It was perfect!!
What were the amenities of the resort like? What was your favorite one? Stormalong Bay needs to be experienced by everyone atleast once in their life. It is the most inclusive pool area that I’ve seen. The slide that goes over the walkway was very fun (yes, I did it with the teens!). The lazy river is great too. There is one portion that you should not get in if you do not swim well (me!) or are a young person though. There is a fun-looking swirling water area that is very energy draining if you don’t have the energy to get out of it. I would not want to see small children in it for sure. The beach area is awesome for a quiet walk in the evenings and the closeness of the boardwalk activities makes it hard not to go join in on the fun.
What was the food court like? Any favorite foods? This would be DD’s favorite part of the resort. She is a breakfast fanatic along with DH, but she is the picky one. We had a reservation for Cape May Café for breakfast. She loved it so much that she wanted to eat there every morning! We also enjoyed Hurricane Hannah’s for a quick lunch. Having the Marketplace right down the hall was definitely a plus. The gelato was awesome and the sandwiches and other snacks were great too. Beaches and Cream was another great experience with the awesome ice cream. There are so many great restaurants within walking distance that I could definitely not stay there and be hungry!
How were the resort buses? What was your walk to the bus stop like? How were the resorts bus stops at the parks? How far was the walk to the gates? How crowded were the buses at any given time? From our room, we were two minutes to the International Gateway at EPCOT or about 15 minutes to Hollywood Studios. We were about seven minutes to the bus stop and about the same to the boat dock. We never had any issues with the resort transportation. The buses and boats were never crowded coming to the resort or going to the parks and we never waited more than just a few minutes for either.
Would you stay at this resort again? If not, please provide a reason. Absolutely! This is my favorite resort. It was one of the most fun times I’ve spent with my almost grown children and we had a blast! There was nothing I would have changed.
Please provide a photograph you took at the resort if you have one. It can include your family or not, that is up to you. It doesn’t matter where at the resort it was taken. I have pictures of the resort but not with me. I will try to send them later today though.
