If your family enjoys camping, you can get a camp site at Ft. Wilderness for $84 – $130 depending on the time of the year.
Tip: If you are staying off-site and not using the hotel’s shuttle to the parks, you will have to pay $25 a day to park. Make sure you add that $25 daily expense to the price of the hotel to see how it compares to the price of the on-site Value Resorts. You do have to pay $13 per night to park at the Value Resorts.

I grew up in a family of 5 and we would typically do two rooms at an All-Star. My family loved staying on property and not having to worry about driving to the parks. Also, by the time they added in the parking price, it was worth it. Then, we also saved money by using the dining plan.
Now that I am going with my family, I don’t think I would consider anything but staying on property. Nothing beats it! Whether I can afford a deluxe or a value, I will be staying on property. :)
I was pricing out future trips and looking into Value to save us some money. We have only ever stayed at POR and CBR. There are 5 of us (the youngest is 2 now so past the “free baby in a room” stage). Well, apparently we are limited to a Value Suite, and it actually came to cost MORE than an AB room at POR. Not as roomy, obviously, but we don’t need the Suite space, especially if it saves us money to pass it up anyway!
we got a room rate in the beginning of august at a value resort for $60.00 bucks through an email after we went in april. can’t pass it up so we are going back for a couple of nights for a stay-cation!
Where is the cheapest place on property for a family of five? We have three daughters ages seven, 11 and 13. Not comfortable with them in their own room unless it is connected by a door. What are the options for us?
Kathy,
Disney does their best to put you in an adjoining room. If you note on your reservations that your kids are under 18 then you can be pretty much guaranteed that you will indeed get an adjoining room. Never had it happen any other way with our family. Just remind them at check in. Worst case scenario is you may have to wait an extra hour to check in. Two rooms at value are still usually cheaper than a deluxe unless you get a great 40 % off room offer. Then they are a little more at the deluxe but may be worth it :)
Art of Animation could be a perfect choice. Look for discounts that may be available to help with costs!!
My family and I just got back from disney. We stayed at the Wyndham right across the street from downtown disney for only $89. It was cheaper than the value resorts and it is an official Disney hotel
Were you able to walk there?
