Yes you can pay for your Walt Disney World Vacation in Payments. In these times, affording a vacation can be tricky yet you probably need a vacation now more than ever! How do you fit vacation planning into the family budget? Put your vacation on layaway! That’s right, you can create your own vacation layaway plan! Disney vacations (Disney World and Disney Cruise Line), Universal Studios, most cruise lines and many all-inclusive resorts will allow you to make a deposit to confirm your trip and then make payments on your trip — interest-free. The deposit on a Disney World vacation is just $200. It’s like putting your vacation on layaway!
You can tailor this plan to suit your personal needs. There are many ways to make this work. Here are some possibilities:
1. Make the deposit and then divide the remaining balance by the number of paychecks you will get before the balance is due. Make that payment each time you are paid.
2. Put your income tax return toward the trip to reduce the balance due.
3. Take the amount you save using coupons each week and make a payment
These are just a few ideas. There are no “set” payments, so you can do what works best for you! If you book your trip well in advance, you can make the vacation of your dreams affordable with your personal vacation layaway!

Michele …where did you get the specials and where do you leave to pay 400 roundtrip ??? Any advice were 2 adultos and to kids 9, 12
Whoa…. $7000? The most we have ever spent for 6-7 days is $3000-4000. We took our 2 boy for 7 days and stayed at a very nice hotel off property, had a 5 day hopper plus did a day at sea world and only spent 3000! When we had 3 kids we spent 4000, stayed in an off property villa. Yes we had to pay for parking but thats only 20 a day. We saved about 200 a day by staying off property! Always back water and snacks! We have a back pack cooler we use. It’s great!!! We do drive as,well, again oh spend 400 in gas roundtrip as opposed to nearly $1500-2000 on flights!
We live in texas
Hello all. I come to you for some advice on Disney Vacation. This will be the first time our family has went to Disney World. We are planning for a year from now, so June 2014. We will have 2 adults and 4 children (12,10,6,5) We will be staying for 7 days, and have no idea how much should be saved to have this vacation. We have looked into travel agents and booking online. Others have told us how much it has cost for a Disney Vacation. Based on the information above, how much should we plan on saving? Here are a few numbers that have been give to us by agents and using the Disney Vacation Online. (13k, 15k, 21k) All help and advice is appreciated. Thanks!!
We have a family of 2 adults and our children are 17, 14, and 6. We stay 7 days at the Wilderness Lodge with 4 day park hopper passes. We got the free meal plan. With everything including airfare and spending money we usually spend about $7000.00. I book online put down a $200 deposit and make payments. Works out very well.
You can just email them. I went through Nancy Bobby at Destinations in Florida and we communicate via email.
I was looking at the Destinations IN Fl link that you provided but it is for the previous year. Any idea how I can get a quote without speaking to someone for the upcoming year?
My question is our trip will need to revolve around the timing of the best airfare. Can we book now and change dates later without penalty if needed, as long as it is before 45 days? Thanks! (Thinking of a cruise specifically…)
A few questions:
1) How long do you have to pay off the trip?
2) Can you do this through any travel agent, or is just Destinations In Florida?
3) Does this include airfare?
Thank you!
You should be able to do the “layaway” through anybody. Our family made our first trip in sept. 2011 and we went through disney directly. They mentioned this option to me so that we had our reservations and could start planning and reserving character dinners and other extras. it was wonderful.
I am paying on my trip for Christmas 2012 and I love it! We will have paid off the whole trip by October and will only need to save spending money, since we bought the meal plan too. Every payday I buy a $25 Disney Gift Card and that should be take care of my spending habit too. This is our big family vacation before our sons graduate this year.
I am actually doing both. I am putting away a little in savings each month for the interest but then I am going to buy gift cards each month too. That way I can’t spend the gift cards. Ours is all for spending money, we are also making payments each month on the trip.
This is what we do, too, but instead of giving the money to Disney a bit at a time, we keep it in an account that earns interest. Then when the trip gets closer, we use our debit card to make the payments and transfer the money into our checking account. We had our debit card purchase limit increased for this reason. So, same idea, we just earn a bit of interest along the way!
Can you do this for Disneyland too?
Yes you can.
How far into the future can one do this? 1,2,3 years…
WDW can be booked now up until Dec. 31, 2013. Cruise lines are different and i believe you can book some of those up to 2 years in advance.
I can speak from experience about Disney Cruise line because we’ve booked in advance twice. We booked our 2012 cruise while on board in 2010 & our 2014 cruise while on board in 2012. Booking so far in advance sure does make payments affordable and gives us an adventure to look forward to. :)
Question, I have done this. Love it. Just paid off our balance for a trip 9/12/12.
BUT if you have to cancel your trip do you get any of your money back? Deposit, or future payments?
Just curious.
I was wondering the same thing Michelle!
Michelle…..up until 45 days before your trip you can cancel or make changes to your reservation with a full refund. From day 45 until the day you are scheduled to leave for your trip you will lose all monies paid unless you have paid for trip insurance and then the reimbursement is based on a number of factors including but not limited to the nature of the reason for cancellation and or the type of policy you bought into. :)
Another question about reimbursement-what about for the Vacation club? We are planning a trip for our 25th wedding anniversary June of 2014, which will be a BIG trip for us. This would be wonderful, but we would like the space of a 2 BR villa at the Boardwalk, so that is what I was looking at. What about that? Thanks so much!
I just had to cancel recently and we had paid the deposit plus a couple hundred extra and we got all of our money back, they put it right back onto the card we paid with and sent back a gift card for the part we had paid for in gift cards. I don’t remember how many days in advance you have to cancel to get all your money back though.
Deanna is correct! You will get all of your money back if you cancel before your 45 day mark. My only suggestion is try to use the same credit card for your payments. That way if you do cancel, it is easier to check your one credit card for all of your credits.
This is exactly what we did. We just booked a trip for June 2013 and paid the deposit. Now everytime we have the slightest little bit extra we are putting it towards that. I never knew you could pay for disney this way and was so excited when Nancy at Destinations Florida told us. This is the only way we could do this trip with 6 of us!
This is exactly what we are doing! We are planning a Disneyland trip for Thanksgiving 2013 and we already have our reservations and plenty of time to pay off the room before we even arrive!
That is super smart Nicole! It does make the whole vacation more enjoyable with small payments over the year and a half!
This is the second year I am ebaying my way to Disney!!!!!
That’s awesome!
Mary, I am doing the same with eBay! I am on year two also… we went for the first time in Sept and now I’m working on another trip for the fall! Good luck!
