My experiences:
We ate here on one of our previous trips and I was not impressed. I would rather save my money and eat at one of the quick service restaurants in the Animal Kingdom.Â

You can also eat at the Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney.

Rainforest at AK is a MUST for our AK day! We have eaten there many times and food/service has always been great. Rainforest is always on our list to do. The Primal Steak & the Primal Cheesecake are wonderful! I personally do not care for Flame Tree or Tusker House.
It was the perfect dinner to celebrate our 50th anniversary trip to Disney World. Loved it
We were at the one in Downtown Disney. It is on the expensive side for the type of food you get. My boys (5 and 2) loved the surroundings though with all of the animals and the thunderstorms that took place while we were eatining. We went there because I had a gift card from a credit card reward, so it was worth it even though $50 did not cover 2 kids and 2 adults!
Rainforest Cafe is a fun place to eat but there are locations all over the country at shopping malls and downtown areas. Save the Rainforest Cafe experience for a different trip and go for the Disney only eateries.
We eat here, everytime we are at WDW. I like this location as it attached to Animal Kingdom.
We love the Rainforest Cafe. The restaurant is so much fun for kids and adults. There is always something happening, keeps the little ones entertained.
We were just at WDW in March and we ate there for a late lunch around 2 or so when we were wrapping up the park and heading back to MK for our evening reservations. The wait wasn’t too bad, about 40 minutes, which I thought was reasonable for a walk-in request while they are actively seating reservations. We waited in the store, which is always fun. We have been to RFCs before, and I would rather eat somewhere I can ONLY eat at WDW, but the kids LOVE RFC and it is a very fun experience. If you have toddlers in the 2-3 range, I suggest prepping them for what they will see, and walking into the restuarant and looking from afar while you wait for your table. While fun, they restaurants do tend to be dark, the animals can be large, and a storm comes so many times an hour. My 3yo, who has terrible nightmares from some medication she has to take, had a hard time wtih the storms and the moving animals, but eventually adjusted. I wish I would’ve walked her in there to look while we were waiting so she could adjust a littl before we were sitting right next to a wall of plants and animals!
The volcano dessert is SUPER yummy, very rich and definitely enough for a table to share. It is fun since it comes with a sparkler. We were too full to eat dessert, so the kids were disappointed, but there’s always treats to have at Disney! Our service was slow and I was disappointed with our wait staff, but it looked as if everything was moving smoothly in the rest of the restaurant so I think we got a bad table with a bad server, I don’t think its indicative of the restaurant.
Overall: fun. Its a chain, so food is what I expect along a TGIFriday’s or Chile’s line I suppose. Not outstanding but good, and portions are huge. I would prefer to eat somewhere else since we can hit a RFC if we travel somewhere else (we don’t have one near us), but its always a great experience.
I really enjoy it :D.
I live in Orlando and have eatten at Rainforest twice in the past year. I would recommend eatting at the one at Animal Kingdom. The food is okay and the service is not great at downtown Disney. Last time we were their the computer system went down. They were unable to check us out for over 60 minutes after we were finished our meal. We had to ask for some type of compensation and then were only given 20% off our bill. I was more then a little upset. This was at the downtown Disney location.
I actually have a question about Rainforest at AK. I have reservations there in October when we visit WDW and are planning on eating there the day we arrive in Florida after a few hours in AK. I was wondering how “on time” they were with their reservation seating? The park closes at 5pm and our reservations are at 5:15pm. The bus only runs until 6 pm to get us back to the hotel so I’m nervous about the timing of it all. If they get us in on time, I think me and my 7 year old could eat pretty quick and be out out there by 6pm. Any thoughts??
Heather — I doubt you will be able to get the bus. We didn’t have reservations, but it is a sit down restaurant and getting sat, ordered, food cooked, eaten, paid, and out to the bus in 45 minutes is awfully ambitious IMHO. Its pretty cheap to take a cab depending on where you are staying, though, or else I would change the reservation to another night.
I was thinking may be I would have to get a cab. About that now…. do they just hang around outside?? Don’t want to have to wait along time, what do you suggest? Also, still curious about Rainforest and how prompt they are with their reservation seating. Some places in WDW are right on time, others, not so much. :) Thanks!
My family and I went to WDW a few weeks ago and ate at the Rainforest Cafe in Animal Kingdom. We had the dining plan and used one of our meals to eat dinner there. My husband and I both had the steak, which was a nice size. I think we had fries with it. You get a drink (non-alcoholic) an entree and dessert.
Our dessert was cheesecake, which was huge! I couldn’t eat it, so they boxed it for me and I ate it later in the hotel.
My grandchildren liked the animals in the restaurant and every 20 minutes or so, they made sounds and moved. We enjoyed our meal there and recommend you go!

We eat here every time we go. We absolutely love it. My girls ages 13 and 12 the last time we went split the appetizer nachos and they were full from that my husband and I went by ourselves in April and we choose this as our special dinner we love the food and atmosphere. We have always had great service and never have had a bad meal. This is a definite place you should try.
My wife and I ate here on our anniversary trip without the kids. We have also eaten at the DTD one as well. I usually get the same thing when I go (the Pastalya) and I found that the quality was better and portion was much bigger at the AK Rainforest.
My family ate there in 2010. Perhaps it was because we were still damp from Kali River Rapids, but we froze in the restaurant. We actually spent about $100 in the gift shop on sweatshirts/t shirts because we were so cold! The food was at best ‘ok’, the appetizers had been cooked hours earlier and reheated when we ordered. We were unimpressed and will not be eating there again. Ther are plenty of wonderful restaurants in AK without having to eat at Rainforest Cafe.
We ate there in April and really enjoyed it. It wasn’t a HUGE difference from another Rain forest cafe’s (as we have been to 4 different ones in 4 different states). I mean it has its own small differences and quirks but the food of course is the same as another. but all in all we had a great time, and would do it all over again.
we ate there on our last disney vacation(2 weeks ago) we loved the food and the surrounding my 19 month old loved that the animals moved and all the noises we look forward to visiting again.
I have eaten here twice and we loved it both times. The food is really good. I think it is Cajun or Caribbean inspired food. The last time we went we decided to get the chocolate volcano and it was too much dessert for 2 adults and 1 child! The wait staff was super nice and even though it was busy they were quite attentive. If we ever get to go back to WDW this is on our to do list!
Yes I have ate there twice in the last 6 years, they do have good food. I do not eat there much because it is not really a treat for us because we have a Rainforest Cafe a hour from our house in Michigan. We will go there a few times a year for special occasions like on the way to a concert. I do like the food, but we like trying other places.
