We ate dinner here for the first time this year. This was our least favorite place to eat. The service was good, but the food was just not to our tastes. We are not really adventurous eaters, though. My kids said that it was too spicy for them. We will not be going back.
Best Advice: lunch and dinner are pretty much the same menu except lunch is cheaper. Take advantage of a late lunch time frame as your dinner. Your early dinner at a lunch price will make you and your pocketbook smile.
The food and atmosphere are great. It is a nice air-conditioned dinning experience while visiting the Animal Kingdom. You won’t be disappointed
We had a grand gathering here during our August 2011 trip…. and it was a great meal… my youngest son had lactaid issues and our waitress went out of her way to make sure he had food to eat with out dairy!!
We’ve gone to Tusker House for lunch several times. It’s our favorite Animal Kingdom restaurant. The food is good, but mostly we like the restful atmosphere in the middle of a busy day. For a quiet, “private” meal, try one of the side rooms.
We’ve done breakfast and dinner here; this is one of my favorite experiences!
The characters are great, the ambience is amazing, and the food is unusually good for a buffet (even a Disney one). IMO it rivals Boma, especially for breakfast.
Tusker House is one of our favorites. Wonderful variety of foods and the characters are dressed in thier cute safari gear. Twice we have scheduled this for brunch and had our choice of their breakfast and lunch buffets. The kid’s love participating in the safari parade with the characters. This is a must do for us in AK.
My family ate at Tusker House in Nov 2009. The kids loved the Characters and joined in the the “parade”. The food was the BEST we had while in Disney (at least in my opinion).
This is hands down our favorite character meal at any of the four parks. We always do breakfast at Chef Mickey’s and Tusker House’s the food is way better. It’s very busy and reservations are a MUST. We had reservations on our last trip and still waited forever to be seated. We were even early for our check in time. Our waitress was nice but our service wasn’t very good, we barely saw her after she brought our drinks so no refills.
Just ate at Tusker House in May! We had reservations with preferred seating for the Nemo show. It was a bit confusing when we checked in… they were taking names for walk-ups with an hour+ wait, and we were told we had to wait even with the reservation. Just as we were getting the kids situated at one of the outside tables and thinking about a drink from the bar, a friendly hostess called our name and whisked us inside and to a table. Very quiet inside compared to all the people outside watching the dancers and waiting! Our waiter was great, and even brought us extra drinks in to-go cups when we left! Plenty of food to choose from – both typical buffet fare and items with an African twist. We ate so much that it was lunch and dinner. The reserved seating for Nemo was down front on the right… and the show was awesome! We would do the Tusker House/Reserved Nemo Seating again. Hope I helped:)
We had the character breakfast there in April 2010. We all loved it-2 adults and one child. Had an early reservation and was able to eat and head straight to the safari. I would highly recommend it. The variety of food of good and some unique offerings as well.
We went there in August of 2010 and it was the best character breakfast by far. The food was outstanding and there was a ton of interaction with the characters. The service was excellent and we loved the juice that was served with breakfast. There are lots of items to choose from so there is something for everyone. We did have reservations for breakfast but there was a little bit of a wait. Definitely visit Tusker House when visiting.
We dined here for breakfast in December of 2008. The waiter we had was wonderful! He brought out juice for our 2 year old and 10 month old in to-go coffee cups so that they would have lids, which was sooooo nice, as we were able to have some juice to go, as well! Loved the food, too. The character interaction was wonderful, but it did feel slightly rushed. It was my first character breakfast ever, so it was a great experience to start with!
We went in May 2010 & did not have ADRs, but we are willing to eat at odd times, ie super early supper or later lunch. The buffet was very good. Huge selection with lots of variety in meat, fruit/veggies, salads & desserts. There were plenty of traditional items that kids shouldn’t have any problems with this buffet. I have tried even in November to get in for the character meal here without ADRs & it is darn near impossible.
I would say give it a try! My family of four would go back.
We ate there last year. We went for lunch. If you go between 1-2pm, you are given preferred seating for the 2:45 Finding Nemo show.
The food was good…although we were a little disappointed with the service. I think our waitress was just having a bad day. Our only less than stellar cast member service! Otherwise, it was great and we highly recommend it!
The preferred seating to Nemo would have been worth even the worst food or service! It was soooooo amazing! It is in line with the Lion King Broadway in puppetry/imagery.
Tusker House had good food…we had 9 people in our party and everyone was pleased with the food. Something for everyone!
Again, a must do lunch at AK!
The breakfast at Tusker House is our favorite character breakfast in the world. We love the characters (just wish that Donald would sign) and the food is amazing. We have never had anything but excellent service. The juice is amazing. We usually book around 10:00 am for brunch. We can usually squeeze in a safari ride and FP for Expedition Everest before our meal.
This is my favorite character experience! My advice is to get to the park when it opens, and go right to the Safari Ride so you do not have to wait long, and you will see the animals. Make reservations ahead of time for 10:15 or 10:30 for the character brunch. The characters spend a lot of time with the kids here compared to other places, in my opinion. And, they seem to run on time more than other places (at least the 3 times we have been there). A character also comes into your room and hands out instruments to do a parade with the children. It is priceless. Plus, the tropical punch they give you is tasty, and the food is really good. A late brunch will give you the energy you need to enjoy the parks until dinner!
I ate at Tusker House in Dec. of 2009. There were 4 adults, 3 children under 7 and two teens in our group. The different foods were very good and flavorful for us adults, but all of the “kids” preferred the mac & cheese and chicken!
Reservations is not only recommended but REQUIRED, in my opinion, especially if you’re doing character dining. We’ve always had reservations there for character breakfast…usually late breakfast…after 10am, and we’ve never had less than a 30 minute wait…and that’s just for the first part of the wait. Then it’s often another 10-15 minute once we get walked around back to take pics with Donald.
