Update: They no longer do these.
For a Disney Theme Park Souvenir: Create Custom Mickey Ears at Le ChapeauĀ in the Magic Kingdom. Here’s a great tip on Disney Theme Park Souvenir from one of my readers…
Many people when they go to Disney want to get the souvenir Mickey ears. We found that getting them at Le Chapeau on Main Street in Magic Kingdom allowed the kids to customize their ears, including embroidery of their names, for about the same price as a regular pair of ears. They get to choose between various base hats, different ears in a variety of designs and the color, patches and font they would like for their names.
Plus after you make these, you can bring these and other Disney souvenirs back to the parks on your next trip.

My daughter loved creating her own ears as well. Sadly, when we were there this past March they no longer do the custom hats. You can still have the premise ones embroidered though! I am hoping this is just a temporary thing will all of the construction, but it was definitely gone in the Magic Kingdom location anyway (not sure about Downtown Disney).
Just a tip for those who may have a unique name; you may need to bring ID to get the name you want on your ears. My son attempted to get ears with his brother’s middle name on them but the CM did not believe “Dude” was a proper name and refused to embroider the ears with his brother’s name. Even speaking with a supervisor did not help. They do not have to put any name on anything they do not feel is “proper”. On a later trip we had no problems with a different CM and finally got our younger son his “Dude” ears.
I’m so excited to get my kids ears this year! I have some from when I was a kid and I think it will be fun for our whole family to have them. I have a 12 year old, who knows about safety rules, and a toddler who probably won’t keep the hat on too long. Getting to customize their ears would be fun, but ears are always fun!
Some people suggest not having your childs name put on the hat but we had a long chat with the kids about even if someone knew their name they still werent safe to go with unless they had a special name tag and only an emergency.. They loved when a CM called them by name
Two years ago we made our own ears, but when we went last year they didn’t do it anymore. So I don’t think this is still available.
