Should I Bring a bathing suit to Walt Disney World? Yes! Walt Disney World resorts have AMAZING pools and of course since it is in Florida, it’s usually warm.
The biggest difference between Value and Moderate resorts is that Value resorts do not have a slide. But their pools are still a lot of fun! Pop Century, where we have stayed on 2 of our trips, actually has 3 pools, plus a kiddie pool and Goofy’s pop jet fountain.
During the winter time, most of the resort pools are heated. So if you think you might have some down time, you should bring your suits!
We did not bring our suits on our January trip though because it was COLD and it has to be 75-80 degrees before I even think about putting on a bathing suit.

Being from WA. even December is pool weather. Went for new years a couple years ago. Was 60-75. My husband and I were in the pool everyday even at like 2am. But our weather during that time is a heat wave if it hits 40
I would say take the suits with you. Kristen you complained on how much you hurt from walking. I have back troubles and when I go float in the pool it makes me feel so much better. It takes all the pressure off your bodies. So i suggest going after the park to get ready for the next day of walking!
One more tip for those who forget the swimsuits — try thrift shops for swimwear. We went on a ski trip to Vermont last year and my “helpful” husband repacked our bags right before we left, leaving out the swimsuits. Since my 2 year old is not quite ready for skiing, I had planned to spend most of the trip playing in the pool with her. Ever try to find swimsuits in Vermont in December?? I didn’t want to pay $70 ($70!) at the local sporting goods store so I tried a thrift shop. $4 was more my style (and they even had a better selection than the expensive store).
If you forget bathing suit and have car head down B.Visita Dr. towards Downtown Disney run this road until you can’t go any further.
You make a Left at this light go down to the next stop light, and you see a beachwear store on your Left. You keep going down further you find Shoney’s, Breakfast House, Macaroni Grill, Pizza Hut, Olive Garden, and W.Dixie grocery store on right.
If you make a Right at this light you find Golden Corral on your left, Walgreens on your right, and Chcik-fil-a! This is where we eat if we don’t have a meal plan!
When we went to Disney at the beginning of December, we were really surprised that Blizzard Beach was open. It was way too cold! When we went on the bus to one of the parks (Animal Kingdom, maybe? can’t remember) that stopped at Blizzard Beach before taking us on, one guy got off at Blizzard Beach. The rest of us on the bus were talking about him afterward – how brave he was to venture out to a waterpark in December. I guess the good thing was – no lines!
Even if you don’t think the pool is warm enough most places have hot tubs, which are nice to soak in after walking around all day. My husband played with the kids in the pool while I soaked in the hot tub – win win! :)
Yes, however, last time we went, the adults never got a chance to use them. We were just so busy park hopping that we didn’t do any dips in the pool. The kids, however, got to use their swim suits running around fountains at various parks so I was glad I even thought to put them in our day packs.
I went this past December and totally regretted that I did not bring swimsuits.
Yes! We take our swimsuits with us {although we have only gone during summer – due to work schedule} . . . LOVE the premise of your blog!!!
When we got to FL last month, it was in the 60s out. Which, sure, it was better than at home in MA, where it was in the single digits, but it’s still not exactly pool weather. But hey, it was heated, and as long as you kept most of your body under the water, it was fun. And it was awesome to be swimming outside in February. :)
Thanks for this. Since this will be our first trip, I have been toying with this idea for awhile since we currently do not have swimming weather. I guess I will bring bathing suits with us.
The Hippy-dippy pool at Pop Century reopens on Saturday!
We will definitely be taking our swim clothes to Disney! Haven’t done it at Disneyland yet, cause we always go in Dec/Jan- but hoping for WDW in 2012 Sept/Oct. It was great weather last Oct while I was there!
We bring our suits unless it is Dec. because it is too cold. We love taking a break in the afternoon swim and then go back to a park later and then we are all refreshed. We love the Boardwalk pool, my son loves going down the clown slide. We also love BayLake Towers has an amazing water slide, pool, and fun water sprayers that the kids enjoyed. It is a blast!
Of course!! Spending our afternoons at the pool help us relax and get ready for an evening of fun. Love the pools at Pop!! Pop is just pure Disney fun.
We always bring our suits to Disney! I always used to bring my kids suits to the parks too so they could get really wet in places like Donald’s Boat, the S.S Miss Daisy in toontown at the Magic Kingdom…always a favorite for them since we always went in July! We would let them cool down and then get them dressed in the dry clothes to continue at the park! So sad to see toontown go, especially since we just had a new addition to the family!
