The Disneyland Fire Station and Walt’s Apartment will be located on your left as you enter the park. The Fire Station has an old fashioned fire engine on display that was used to pull guests when the park first opened. Inside, you’ll also notice 2 stalls for Bess and Jess, the horses that would have pulled the real working fire engine back in the day.
Look for the brass pole that leads up to Walt’s apartment that is still furnished exactly as he left it all those years ago. You can even estimate the size of Walt’s apartment based on the square footage of the first floor of the fire station. The light is left on in the window of the apartment because Walt always lit it to let guests know he was in the park. It is left lit in his honor to reflect that he is always there.
In The Disney Gallery, located across from the Fire Station, you will find a wall mural with pictures and details of Walt’s apartment. Take time to find and read it over. It is incredibly interesting and then you can immediately view the outside of the apartment which the kids will enjoy.
