This Week’s Featured Story:
Colortopia Now Open at Innoventions East
Colortopia presented by Glidden is officially open at Innoventions East in Epcot. The exhibit has three parts. The first experience takes place in the “Power of Color Theater” using vibrant hues along with narration to explore the psychology of color. The second zone called the “The Color Lab” features two interactive stations. The third zone, “Color Our World,” features color shadows and a magic paintbrush. With the magic paintbrush, you can choose the color palette and create a spectacular scene on digital screen. It’s quite a fun experience!
Here is some more news out of Walt Disney World this week:
- The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for refurbishment since early October. The train may be seen circling for tests Nov. 18-20, but it will not reopen for guests until Nov. 21.
- “Captain EO” will say its final farewell December 6. It’s closing to make room for a new attraction, “Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival.” Here, Epcot guests can experience beloved Disney and Pixar animated shorts in a new 4D experience located in Magic Eye Theater in the Imagination Pavilion. The opening date for the new attraction has not been announced yet.
- The BoardWalk Bakery has created a holiday gingerbread house display called Ginger’s Bread & Cookie Shoppe this year. It is inspired by early century concession stands that lined the boardwalks of the era. The architectural details are reminiscent of seashore inns and bungalows with a color palette taken directly from Atlantic City Salt Water Taffy!
- Each year, the pastry chefs at Disney’s Grand Floridian design and construct a life-size gingerbread house in the Resort’s lobby. This year is no different! The Grand’s gingerbread house opens for business on Nov. 19, selling pins, cookbooks and treats. Chef Erich Herbitschek, the executive chef of the bakery at Disney’s Grand Floridian will be in the lobby signing exclusive gingerbread pins and cookbooks on Nov. 21 as well.
- This year at Disney Springs, Santa’s Chalet has relocated to a new location across from Ghirardelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop. Old St. Nick is already in town, too! Like last year, guests will check in at the podium to join a virtual queue, which means less time waiting in line. Planning to visit? Upon arrival, you’ll receive a pager from one of Santa’s Helpers; when it’s time to take your place in line, you’ll be notified. Simply return to the podium within 10 minutes. In the meantime, you can shop, dine and enjoy holiday décor and festivities throughout Disney Springs! Santa will be greeting guests daily through December 24, 12pm – 10pm. (Santa Goofy takes over December 25-29 during the same hours.) If you have Disney’s Memory Maker Package, your PhotoPass Photos with Santa are included.
