I love Easter. The weather is starting to get warmer, flowers are starting to bloom, and there are lots of pretty colors every where you look. It just lifts my spirits. Several of my neighbors hang plastic Easter eggs from their trees and I knew there had to be a cuter way to decorate with them. So I made this wreath. The best part about it is it only cost me $2.00! You can create your own by following these simple steps below.
To make this adorable Easter wreath, you will need:
- 1 White wire clothes hanger
- Several sandwich baggies (NOT zip top kind… you will need the ones that fold over)
- A few plastic Easter Eggs
1. Bend your hanger so it forms a circle (see picture above).
2. Fold a plastic baggie a few times (it doesn’t matter if you do it length or width wise) and then tie it around your hanger (see picture above). Repeat until you have the entire hanger covered.
3. Tie a few Easter eggs on your completed wreath and hang! That’s it! It’s so easy and inexpensive!!
(Thanks Michelle!)
I am wondering how many boxes of bags you think you used for one wreath? I would like to do this with my scouts. There are 12 girls.
I’m doing this with a group of kids on Tuesday, I’ll let you know how it turns out. Could you give me an idea of how many baggies are needed per wreath?
Very cute wreath! You’re becoming a crafty girl. :)
Very cute idea!
I remember reading a wreath idea similar to this (I think it used strips of clear trash bags instead) years ago in the tightwad gazette books but I could never visualize how it could make a pretty wreath. Thanks for the tutorial and photos!
I just got materials to make a wreath. I’ve wanted one of the wicker ones with Easter Eggs on it for a few years but wasn’t willing to spend the $15 plus dollars on one. I went to the dollar store and found a wicker wreath, bought 3 packs in various sizes of Styrofoam eggs and a thing of Easter ribbon. It cost $5. :) Now all I have to do is glue it all together before Easter. :)
Thank you for sharing this. I need a new Easter wreath and I did not want to spend a lot of money on one.
I know what you mean. The pre-made ones that you can find in stores are crazy expensive these days!
CUTE!!! gonna make this….just an idea maybe do the wreath in the shape of an egg???
I thought about that after I made it. The cool thing is… since it’s a wire coat hanger, you can shape it even after it’s made!
This is such a cute inexpensive idea. I’m going to do this with my daughters tomorrow, thanks for sharing this!!!
Great! I would love to know how yours turns out!
