My friend picked me up and took me to Walmart to buy our groceries for the week. Got enough for 3 dinners, 6 lunches and 7 breakfasts for 5 people (remember I am sticking with Medifast this trip) plus snacks and drinks. It was $132 which I thought was pretty good considering we spent $63 on lunch at Disney World yesterday.

You are doing a great job by sticking with your plan. I was on a diet when I went to DW a couple of years ago & I stuck with it while I was there. You can do it!!! I just stuck w/ salads for lunch and dinner. I did allow myself one meal to splurge on since we were there for 5 days. Keep those pictures coming and IF you have a chance, tell us about one of your meals you take with you or eat in your room. I’m sure we are all curious about that. thanks!

Do you go back to room for lunch & dinner? Curious as to what your menu is. When we went in December I felt it would have been a lot of wasted time as long as it took to get to and from our resort. Then again, we were lucky enough that 5 of our 7 days were during the dining plan. When we go again we will have to do things differently if not on plan and I’m starting to research if we will stay at a resort or not. For us to stay at a resort w/ a kitchen I’m seeing prices of $500+ per night. That is beyond our budget on lodging! I would love to stay at a resort again but in reality we will probably end up at the Hampton

Nicole – I agree with you that it does take up a lot of time to go back to your resort and cook meals. My family always stays at one of the Moderate category resorts and we bring groceries with us. Since there is a fridge in the room, we bring milk, lunch meat, etc. We eat breakfast in the room before we head out for the day (granola bars, cereal) and pack a lunch to take with us to the parks (we bring in a soft sided cooler and pack sandwiches, chips, drinks). Then, we eat dinner at whatever park we are in that day. This saves a huge amount of money and doesn’t require us to stay in a room with a kitchenette.

Awesome job on keeping on track. You should be very proud of yourself.

Are you packing lunch for in the parks each day or leaving the park to go back to the room for lunch?

I look forward to hearing about your experience at Disney while sticking with Medifast. I started a drastic overhaul of my diet a few weeks ago and am going to Disney with my entire family (mom, dad, sister, plus my husband and three kids) in four weeks, so I know I cannot dictate every meal venue we eat at. The snacks are what’s going to be a problem for me (I adore the chocolate-dipped marshmallow Mickey treats); meals I know I can always resort to a salad with dressing on the side. And since we only go every couple of years, I need to figure out a way to enjoy the food/snacks/drinks responsibly.

That is much cheaper than eating at Disney all week. Good for you for sticking with Medifast on the trip. You can do it, Kristin!

Visit the condiment station at your resort …they have individual containers of peanut butter, jellies, cream cheeses, salad dressings, parmesean cheese etc which can be nice to use for p&b sandwhiches or dressing and cheeses for salads :o)
