Frontierland is the old-time wild west land of Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. This land is full of fun and entertainment around every turn.
I do suggest avoiding this area right after the parade. This is where everyone is going to head!
– Uses FASTPASS. If the line is longer than 15 – 20 minutes, get a FASTPASS instead.
– The kids must be at least 40 inches to ride. No exceptions!
– If you have a small child who isn’t eligible to ride, make sure you do a child swap.
– Ride in the front of the train if you don’t want to be jerked too much

– Most people do splash mountain first. I suggest grabbing a fastpass to Splash and riding Big Thunder and seeing other sites until your window opens.
– If you don’t want to get wet, ask to sit in the middle.
– If you aren’t riding splash and you have young kids, as a cast member where Brer Rabbit’s House is. It’s a play area for young kids located right by Splash mountain!
– You can also watch for your family to come down the big drop on Splash. This could offer a great photo opportunity!
– Look for a meet and greet with Brer Fox and Brer Bear outside the ride!
– This show does not start until an hour after the park opens (usually 10 am)
– The theater will hold 380 people
– Avoid this show right after the parade.
– Try to sit in the first 5 rows for the best seats.
– You might see the Bears outside the show for a meet and greet!
Tom Swayer Island and Fort Langhorn
– The first boat to the island isn’t until 10 am
– This island will probably take you about 45 minutes to an hour to do. It’s a great place to let the older kids run and play while parents enjoy an ice cream.
– Don’t go to the island if you hear thunder! You might get stuck on the island until it passes!
– If you can get to the island early in the day, you can hunt for the paint brushes. These are paint brushes that Tom and Huck have hidden. If you find one (limit one per family, there are often 5 hidden), turn it into a cast member for a sweet reward.
Bathrooms
– Stop by the women’s bathroom between Frontierland and Adventureland. Listen very closely and you might just hear Lilo looking for Stitch!
If you are trying to cut from Liberty Square to Frontierland, you might want to take the path by the water. You can see it here. People don’t realize that this walkway is there and you can high tail it between lands.
Disney World is the Most Magical Place On Earth. Be sure to learn how to make the most of your trip by reading the Disney World Training series. You can also browse all the articles I have written in an easy to use outline. And if you are ready to book your trip, be sure to read about the perks of using an authorized Disney vacation planner (plus it’s FREE!).
You’re getting us all so in the mood for Disney with these posts!! You’re creating so much enthusiasm and making is so affordable for people to go there–Disney should send you for free!!!
Thanks for the tips…we love the spitting Camels at The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. It is so funny to watch people get sprayed, then wonder what just happened. We discovered this on a previous trip to Disney and shared the fun with my sister, brother-in-law, and niece last year :) We are heading to Disney again this year in June and this will surely be a stop on our visit. We’ll also have to check out the Tom Sawyer Island…not sure how we have missed this before!
Thanks for all these great tips!!!
I love reading about your Disney Training – I would love to go back to Disney next eyar and bring my dh and dd – both of which have not even been to Florida – I, like you, plan out my trip because I hate lines and want the most out of my trip. Thank you for all of the pointers!
Thanks! We are spending two days in MK!
thanks for the post!!
What great tips! I love Disney and learned several tips from this post! Wowser…thanks!
I discovered 2 weeks ago when I went to Disney with my dad who had injured his foot the day before, well he was having a hard time walking around so I spent $12 and made him sit in the wheelchair…BEST $12 I have EVER SPENT! AUTOMATIC FASTPASS!!!!! Sure I felt bad skipping in front of people, but he had really hurt himself and wanted to spend the day with his 3 year old daughter to ride the rides. I am 30 years old (his older daughter) and I now found a wheelchair on craigslist we will ALWAYS be bringing to the park with us from now on.
I sprung my ankle the day before we left and had to do the same thing it works great but we were there in september s not really any crowds
Wow. I certainly hope you’ll have a sprained ankle or other legitimate injury/need for your wheelchair you are planning to use as your free fast pass. Tsk tsk. :-(
Oh, and one note on Tom Sawyer’s Island….
be careful when you’re in the caves over there.
One time, I was running ahead through the cave, so I could hide and jump out and scare my kids and husband….
and I ran right into a huge Stalactite that wasn’t lit up! I staggered and fell to the ground, dizzy with a huge lump on my forehead!!!
I have been an annual passholder for 10 years and recently moved out of Florida.
This is the ONLY thing I miss…Disney!
So I wanted to wish you a Disneylicious trip and many happy memories!!
Can’t wait to see your pics and read your trip notes. One of our favorite things to do was to take pictures of all of the wonderful meals and dishes served to us.
Such as the tuxedo strawberries we received on our Anniversary in our room at Wilderness Lodge.
Happy Vacation to you!
Careful on that “special” walkway! I got pooped on by a duck while taking it. Yuck!
I have a suggestion for those who don’t want to attend the parade. During this time is actually the best time to ride all the rides that usually have long lines. I am at Disney a lot and have found that riding rides when there is a parade while in any park is the quickest way to get through lines.
I also wanted to tell everyone a secret about Tom Sawyer Island if you can find Tom’s paint brush (you have to get on the island when it opens) you can win a free gift! (often it is free fast pass for the whole day) All you have to do is pick it up and give it to the raft ride operator on the way back!!!!
Oops I did notice you put that in about the paint brushes and thought I erased it but I posted it somehow. Sorry all I can sometimes be technologically stupid lol
I do appreciate these and yes I do take the time to read them but don’t comment, sorry. We are planning our Disney trip in June. I am the grandmother and all our children , now grown, and 5 grandchildren for a total of 12 are heading to Disney together. I think I’m as excited as they are! I know these take a long time to do so I understand if they stop. I just appreciate all you have done and are doing to help out!!Thanks!
I did the Disney College Intership program working in Frontierland (nasty turkey legs lol) and I also would work the Liberty Square Market, Aunt Polly’s on the island, and Aloha Isle (the Dole Whips are awesome, but after 6mths I had my fill). Anyway I think that Frontierland is on the of the best places to view the parade from, before the parade starts the country bears will come out with some dancers and do a country ho down in the middle of Frontierland (well they were doing this almost 10 years ago).
Also I also thought that the fastest way from Main Street to Frontierland was turning left off of Main Street at Crystal Palace and then you end up in Adventureland and if you go past Alladin’s carpets and turn right there is a walkway right into Frontierland or stay in Adventureland and continue past POC and then turn right and you will end up almost right at Splash.
DOLE WHIP is vey close!!!
