We decided to take the rest of the day and explore our resort. Right now the kids are playing on the playground.

Kim N. says
When we go to Disney, we always like to take a day to just explore our resort and sometimes other resorts. The resorts are so pretty, they are a vacation destination by themselves! Thanks for sharing your trip. I have loved reading your posts!
Summer says
I hope you post some pictures of Fort Wilderness and your cabin. It seems like it would be a fun place to stay.
Beth S says
I was telling my DH you were at Ft. Wilderness, and he was remembering how much he likes it there. We ate at Trail’s End a couple years ago and then spent some time there. It is a beautiful resort! We always try and take some down time at WDW, I think we all need it! So enjoying your trip! :)
Christina Scalzo says
I hope you guys had an amazing time and it was everything you hoped it would be for you and more! :) I thought about you guys yesterday cause were went to Epcot and then Magic Kingdom for the day. I knew you guys were at Animal Kingdom but it was so cool that you guys were in the same area! :)
Jen says
We stayed in the cabins during my freshman year in college. It was my parents, my disabled older brother, my older sister and myself – 5 adults total. I think the cabins are great for families with older kids because we really could explore out and about on our own..and there was a lot to do. I loved walking down to the stables and up to the petting zoo.
Candice says
Thats one of my favorite parts, exploring your hotel, you’d be surprised at all the cool things there are when you look around :)
Melissa says
I hope you’ve done the campfire sing-a-long with Chip and Dale!
Gina says
Glad you are enjoying Ft Wilderness. I’ve always wanted to stay there.
Jeananne says
Did you do Hood De Doo Review? Do they still have campfires and sing-a-longs?
Cheryl says
I always wish we had time to do that. Good for you.
Kristy says
We really enjoyed looking around when we went there for the campfire. It’s beautiful.

We always schedule in at least a day or two into our “touring plans” for resort exploration days!! These days are usually some of our favorites…highly recommend scheduling in at least one of these days on every trip!
Tabitha says
Do campers still have their Christmas lights up? I was amazed by the campsite decorations when we were there a couple weeks ago
Kristen says
Down time is so nice while there. You can pack so much in and run, run, run while at Disney, that you go home much more exhausted than before the vacation! Enjoy the last of your time– no SAVOR it!
Stephanie Campbell says
Glad you guys are having fun! How long are you there for? Its seems like you guys have been there 2 weeks with all the stuff you guys have gotten to do already!
suzy k says
we love Fort Wilderness. Enjoy your down time! Have fun! Wish we were there!
Jill Brown says
We are eating at the Wilderness lodge in a couple of weeks at the Whispering Canyon cafe? Do you or anyone know anything about this place. Looks interesting!
Larra says
You are going to love it!!! It is one of our favorite places to eat at Disney – the BBQ is some of the best we’ve ever had. It is a little loud and chaotic at times during dinner, so if you want a quieter table be sure to ask to sit in the back part of the restaurant. We’ve done both and had equally good times in both! Enjoy!!!
Jill says
Thanks so much Larra- I cant wait!
Melissa says
One of our favorites! Our kids love it! Be sure to ask for Ketchup! :)

Sounds like ya’ll are having a great time. We always stay in our camper at Fort Wilderness and absolutely love it. Our 8 year old son love the horses there and the Chip and Dale sing a-long at night. When ya’ll were playing at the playground, did you smell the food from Mickey’s backyard BBQ?? When we are in that area it smells soooooooooooo good. We are going again later this year sometime and have decided to finally spend the money to go to the BBQ and the Hoop Dee Doo Revue. Thanks for sharing all your pictures this past week, Makes me look so forward to going back.
Carrie G. says
Weather depending, we may go to the Chip & Dale campfire one night while we are there in Feb, and we’re not even staying there! Enjoy whatever you choose to do with your family :)
Stephanie says
I got to camp in a camper at Fort Wilderness when I was a kid. It was so much fun. The highlight for me was seeing an armadillo when we were out one night. I don’t think I’ve been back to the Fort since though. Not for any reason, just haven’t made it. Are you going to check out the campfire with Chip and Dale?
laura b says
We always go over there and eat at Trails End and let the girls play. We stay for hours. Glad yall are having a relaxing evening.

My boys always wanted to stay at the resort and swim when we stayed at the value resorts. I can only imagine they would not want to leave the resort at Fort Wilderness from what I have heard and seen.

We love the cabins at Fort Widlerness and so much to do there!
Ann Marie, there are two doors, one in bedroom to outside deck and one in living/dining room to outside deck.

What do you think of the resort? Do you have any pictures of it that you can share with us? We are going in March and are thinking about renting a cabin for the week there.
darlene says
we enjoy the chip and dale sing a long there. have you been to it yet?
Ann Marie says
I bet it’s neat! Is there one door in and out of the cabins? I’m curious about these things as we have to make extra sure we can secure the door with our one fella! Enjoy your evening!
Dawn says
There’s actually 2 doors to the cabin, both lead to the deck. There’s one in the kitchen and then one in the bedroom.
Tabitha says
Have you seen the boat parade or fireworks from the campground?
Linds @ Deals to Disney says
Sounds like everyone is warning you to check the weather- and stay longer!
I love the relax and explore resorts time!
Laura says
We have to a little more of that each time we go.
Ellen says
Sounds nice…we can all use a bit of down time!
Kelly K says
I’m sure the kids enjoy the “down time” just being able to play and be kids just as much as they enjoy running around the park all day. You & Hubby deserve a chance to actually take in where you are staying instead of just using it as a place to shower and sleep. As excited as he was to stay there, I’m sure it means a lot to him to get to check it all out.
