What is stacking coupons?
Stacking coupons is using 2 coupons on one item. This is only allowed if the 2 coupons you are using is a store coupon and a manufacture coupon. You can not use 2 manufacture coupons on one item.
The most popular store for stacking coupons is Target. You can use one Target coupon and one manufacture coupon per item.
What if my coupon says one per purchase?
This is the most confusing wording to cashiers (Bless their heart!). Purchase and Transaction are 2 different things. A purchase is an individual item you pay for. A transaction is your purchase of said items. One per purchase means that you can only use one coupon on one item. It doesn’t mean you have to pay for your items separately. A UPC is also called a proof of purchase. Think of that coupon attaching to that UPC and that is a purchase.
What if my coupon says limit one per transaction?
That means you can only use one of those coupons per your total transaction. If you buy 4 bottles, you can only use one coupon.
What if my coupon says limit four per transaction?
That means you can use 4 of those coupons per your total transaction. If you buy 4 bottles, you can use 4 coupons. If you buy 5 bottles, you can only use 4 coupons.

Great info! Didn’t realize that you could stack coupons like that! Thanks!
I am having a coupon stacking issue and am hoping someone could help me! I am trying to buy two items and use two manufacturer coupons. I want to stack a $3/2 coupon and $1/1 coupon. This should work since it’s one coupon per “purchase” and the requirement of buying 2 is met and only counted once. Please let me know if this is possible. I have had luck stacking this way at Jewel and Walgreens but have had issues at Wal-Mart and Target. Thanks!
You would need to buy three items. If they are both manufacturer’s coupons, the $3 coupon is being used on both items, therefore the $1 cannot be used on one of those same two items. If one was a store coupon, you would be fine.
great info
This will probably sound stupid but has anyone had a problem because it was printed in black and white? I was once told that they don’t take these kind of prints and it totally turned me away from couponing:( Has anyone else heard this before?
Very cool. Had no idea about stacking coupons
I was in target on day and had a coupon that did the beep thing and didn’t show up, the guy was like oh you can only use one of these. I looked at him and said, then you better check again, because there is only one of those. I hate when they get lazy and try to find a reason not to honor the coupon.
I also had one of the kraft ones ring up blank on the scanner and the lady did not want to do it and I stood there till the manager came and was like oh we have had this problem today already come with me and I will take care of it for you.
It pays to not just give up! :)
