Have you ever bargained shopped at the Dollar Tree? I know that isn’t necessarily the first place that comes to mind when you think about your weekly shopping, but it should…
I stopped by my local store today and I found close dated Nature’s Own bread for $1 a loaf (it’s $2.84 at Walmart!) and donuts for half the regular price (this is a rare treat in our house). If you store these items in the fridge, they won’t spoil as fast.
Here are a few other items that you can find:
-Hefty sandwhich bags
-Ivory Soap
-Hawaiian Punch Singles to Go
-Tidy Cats litter wipes
-Advil/Aleve
These items might be a better deal with sales and coupons, but if you need it now it’s a “gotta have it right now” item, then the Dollar Tree is the place to start. Remember the Dollar Tree does not accept coupons.
I also pick up Disney themed items before our trips. Today I saw slap bracelets, stamp kits, little figurines, pool floaties and lots more…
If you are new to Couponing, you might want to take a moment to read more in my Getting Started Couponing series.
(Thanks Micaela!)
My Dollar tree in jasper Alabama takes coupons!
I love the dollar tree love it love it love it. The only thing I have to complain about is that I can not find any coupons to use there. They accept them but I can never find the size my coupon says at the Dollar Tree.
Ok…I admit it! When we went to Disney a few years back, my young son wanted to bring back a little treat for each of his classmates. I went to the Dollar Tree and picked up Disney pencils and erasers for the whole class of 20 for less than $10. No one knew the difference…not even my son. He thought I got all the “loot” from the gift shop! LOL!
That’s a great idea! :)
I live in a small city and we don’t have as many stores besides Walmart, but we do have a Dollar Tree now. When we went to DisneyWorld in March, I bought Mickey and Toy Story toys and coloring books there. I left one on my son’s hotel pillow as we headed out each day so he would have a surprise from “Mickey” each night. He loved it! At a dollar a pop it gave him a prize to look forward to every day and kept us out of the park shops! I also bought the glow braclets at Dollar Tree and took them to the parks each day for my son to wear during the parades/fireworks. You can connect several of the braclets together to make a multi-color necklace. I think there were 5 in a pack for a dollar…
I shop Dollar Tree every 2 weeks. My kids like the sargento pretzels and cheese snacks, Stouffers whales and lately they’ve had 6 packs of nabisco 100 cal cookies. You can also usually find 10 packs of Kelloggs or Betty Crocker fruit snacks. You have to go often to find good deals! Sometimes they have really good makeup (e.l.f), Pro vive shampoo, etc. It’s worth the trip.
We have a Dollar Tree that has freezer items, frys, garlic bread, hash browns and alot of simple staples that my family likes. They even sell eggs but I don’t think its a 12 pack I think its like 8 but if you get there the day they get their truck you can catch some good deals. The downfall is its not our closest location.
I will have to check out our dollar stores one of these days. We have a Dollar Tree and a Family Dollar. Never been to either.
That bread price is excellent! Though I pay almost that little for Orowheat bread at the outlet store. Whoever it was that posted about bakery outlets — thank you!!! They are $1.19 a loaf, but if you spend $6, you get a free loaf of bread, which works out to about $1.02 per load. Then there’s a punch card to fill out which leads to some free items eventually as well. I buy several at a time and put them straight in the freezer so they don’t spoil.
I go to Dollar Tree once every 3 months. I stock up on sponges. They have a 6 pack of them for… a buck! lol Never in my life would I pay $1 or more for 1 sponge. This makes them 16 1/2 cents a piece! I don’t believe in dishwashers so I go through a sponge every two weeks because they get so germ-y.
Why don’t you believe in dishwashers? Is it because of the potential water waste? Just wondering. I usually hear the opposite on how people want a dishwasher!
That’s a great price on the bread. I’ve gotta go check!
The Swiss Miss hot chocolate however is a better deal at Walmart.
The box at Dollar Tree has 8 packets for $1, the box at Walmart has 10 packets for $1.
Tricky aren’t they? I guess I will have to watch things like that.
I make my list, with coupons and sales, and then I hit my Big Lots and Dollar Tree before the other stores. If I find what I need at either of those, for less than what I planned, I pick it up there and cross it off my list. I have found a few things cheaper at Big Lots or Dollar Tree, than what I was going to pay at any other store on sale and with coupon. It is a rare find/treat. :-)
Just to let you know I get my Sunday papers at dollar tree. So i can basically get two papers there for 40cent less than the gas station.
That’s awesome!
Our local Dollar Tree had General Mills 11 oz chocolate Count cereal for a dollar a box this week.
If you put your bread in the fridge over night before freezing it, it would have ice form on it :)
I keep it in the fridge, I don’t freeze it. Instead of storing it in the pantry. :)
I’ll have to start looking at my Dollar Store… Nature’s Own is the only bread I buy but I’ve never seen it there. And my DS was just asking for strawberry poptarts! LOL
My Dollar Tree has Strawberry Poptarts the 8ct boxes. We buy those almost once a week.
