A great way to save money at Walt Disney World is to have groceries delivered to Walt Disney World resort, visit a local grocery store or pack a suitcase full of grocery items. Even if you don’t have a kitchen in your resort room, you can still save money by eating foods that are quick and easy to prepare.
The best meal to eat in your room is breakfast. There are so many convenient breakfast foods you could bring. Pop Tarts, breakfast bars, breakfast cookies, fruit, etc. etc. By eating breakfast in your room, you could save your family of four $30-$40 a day (compared to the cost of eating at a quick service restaurant).
A major money pit in Disney is bottled water. They charge anywhere from $3.50 to $4.50 for a bottle of water. You can get a whole case of water for that price!
Another tip is you can get free cups of ice water in the parks. Just visit any restaurant or snack place that serves fountain soda and you can ask for a cup of ice water for free.
Also consider some snacks that you could take into the parks with you to save money. Just remember that it does get hot in Florida so don’t bring anything that could melt.
If you do not have access or a desire to go to the grocery store once at Walt Disney World, you can order groceries from Garden Grocer. They will deliver your groceries right to your Walt Disney World resort. All Disney resorts have a fridge at bell services that will keep and store your groceries until you arrive. Garden Grocer will also deliver to your resort room if you are present. Keep in mind that the Value and Moderate resorts have a small refrigerator so a 1/2 gallon of milk will fit better in the fridge.
You must order at least $40 from Garden Grocer and you will be assessed a $14 delivery fee unless you order over $200 and then the fee drops to $2. Prices are very reasonable and compare to the prices you would pay at a local grocery store (not Walmart).
Here is what Couponing to Disney readers have to say about Garden Grocer:
They were great stayed at Fort wilderness and we didn’t even have to be in room for it to be delivered. They put everything in fridge that needed to be and had no problems. Very please and will be using them again. – Kristin
We used them in May 2014. Everything was waiting for us in our room when we got there. There was one thing missing, but when I called they were wonderful and had it delivered within 2 hours. We didn’t even have to wait, I believe the front desk took it and put it in the fridge. We will be using them again November 2015. – Margaret
We used them when we stayed at the Contemporary and at AoA. They were fantastic! Food was already at our resorts when we checked in mid afternoon, simply picked up at the bell desk. The fruit was fresh and our bread wasn’t squished (very important to my little ones!). Definitely recommend them and will use again! – Larissa

This is awesome news – there was a time when my hubby wanted to surprise me with a bacon sandwich for breakfast, so he had them make the extra crispy bacon and Wilderness Lodge and deliver it to our room with bread, but they didn’t have miracle whip. I definitely would have called to order some miracle whip to be delivered to our resort – I can’t have a bacon sandwich without it! :)
