Guests can live out their own Star Wars adventure at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in both Disneyland and Disney World. Within this land is a shop named Savi’s Workshop, here guests can build their own Custom Light Saber! One question becomes, how do I get my Light Saber home?? After all, if you are spending $199.00 (+ tax) for a souvenir, you want to ensure it arrives home safely.
Good news is the Transportation Security Administration has notes on just such topic! In case you were wondering, it’s official, Light Saber ARE Allowed in Carry on bags AND Check Bags. Whew.
That leaves guests with 3 options to get your Lightsaber home:
- Bring with you as a Carry on item
- Check your lightsaber into your luggage
- Ship your lightsaber home
Past guests have stated they took theirs through security with no issue and were able to store under seat, or in overhead compartment on the plane. If you choose to ship yours home, this can be done upon completion of your build for an additional charge.

Unless this is something new, I know that 6 months ago, there was a sign in the Orlando Airport saying that Lightsabers were NOT allowed as carry on! Of course this was after we checked our bags, so I took my son’s light saber apart, and it did make it through.
