Slowly but surely I am getting things out of my house! Last week I got rid of the unwanted kitchen items. I have toys, backpacks, and other misc. household items left. For name brand things such as backpacks, popular toys, and household items. I find Ebay works really well. When figuring out what to list you want to avoid things that are bulky or heavy. Those things often times cost a lot to ship. Most people will not be interested in a $5.00 used toy if they have to pay $15.00 for shipping. There is some excepts to this rule. Vintage toys usually do well on Ebay if they are well cared for.
Great things to list on Ebay are name brand items, Disney toys, hard to find or pricey toys, and name brand baby items that aren’t to bulky. We are going to go over clothes later. For things that are bulky try Facebook marketplace. When listing on Ebay the more clear pictures of the item the better. You also want to be very descriptive in your listing. Remember people are shopping without actually seeing the item. As a seller it is your responsibility to accurately describe the item. If there is a small stain. You want to share that. I usually take a picture of it. Honesty is the best policy.
You will have to decide if you want charge the seller shipping. Or add the cost of shipping into the item. I always ship priority mail and have the buyer pay it. The USPS will give you free boxes and bags to ship in if you ship priority mail. You can even order shipping supplies for free online at their website. Plus each item shipped Priority mail is insured up to $50.00. That gives you protection in case something happens to the item along the way. You will also be responsible for seller’s fees. They are small but cut into the profit. Even after the seller’s fees. I make more selling on Ebay than by listing items locally.
Ebay has an app now that makes listing things very simple. It took me 20 minutes to photograph and list 10 things yesterday. I choose the option to automatically relist the item if it doesn’t sell in 7 days with a lower price of 5%. That means that I am done with those items. Ebay is doing all the rest of the work for me. If these items don’t sell within 4 weeks I will donate them. Rarely do I have things not sell.
