Now that your home is clean, and organized. You are probably wondering what to do with all the junk you no longer want or need. Today we are going to focus on the kitchen items. First you are going to want to check Ebay and see what that item is going for. If there is no bids or watchers on several of the same or similar items. Skip Ebay, they charge a fee to list. I find kitchen type items generally don’t do well on Ebay. Unless it something extremely rare. I think part of that is the shipping cost. Kitchen type items typically are heavy. The heavier something is the more it costs to ship it. As a a buyer I also look at the shipping cost of an item.
I generally list kitchen type items on Facebook Marketplace. Unlike Ebay Facebook Marketplace doesn’t have any fees. Just like with garage sales. People are going to haggle you down on the price. I always ask a little more than what I want just to be sure I get the actual price I want. To come up with the price I look at what that item costs new. Then I list it at 75% of that price. If its a vintage item I look up what other sellers on Ebay are asking for that same item. There is always going to be a few sellers that are asking way more than most other sellers. I go with the average of what the majority of people are asking. If it doesn’t sell within a week. I take down the listing and repost with a new lower price usually a dollar lower. I do this same method for three weeks. With this method I sell about 90% of what I list.
If you still have the items left after about a month. Time to rethink your strategy. At this point whatever is left I gather together take a pic and relist it as a lot. With these lot type sales you are not going to get much. Usually $1.00 or less per item. For example if I have 5 items I will list the lot at $5.00. But really I will take as little as $3.00 just to have it gone and earn a little back. If it doesn’t sell within a week. I donate those things and move on.
When it comes to meeting up with people. I always have them meet me at a place I was already going during a time I had to be there anyway. You as the seller have the control here. Make it easy for yourself. For example, tomorrow I am meeting a lady at my grocery store at 9 AM so she can buy a Buzz Light-year blanket. I was already going grocery shopping during that time. I will just wait in the parking lot for the lady to pickup. Then go in and do my shopping. That way I am not letting strangers know my address. I am meeting in a public place. Plus it doesn’t cost me any extra gas to meet up.
