The ideal Disney World vacation includes great weather and low crowds. Therefore, traveling during the off-season would be ideal. However, does Disney World truly have an off-season anymore?! Many believe this is a thing of the past. However, there are windows of opportunities when crowds tend to be lower. Schedule your trip during one of these times for an “off-season” visit to Disney World. Bonus, Disney Resort prices and park tickets trend lower prices during these times too!
Now, lets explore what could be considered off-seasons at Disney World!
Much of January is considered “off-season” and during this month some major attractions go down for refurbishment. Do keep in mind, this is the coldest month all year for Florida with an average high of 71° and a low of 49°.
The first couple of weeks in February are generally a lower crowd time. This comes just prior to many school winter/spring breaks, these events will cause higher crowds towards end of February through March. Generally weekends are busier anytime of year at Disney World, however there is an exception in February to visit for low crowds! This is super bowl weekend. This month brings slightly higher temps with an average high of 73° and low of 52°.
Another low crowd time to consider is the first couple of weeks in May. During the beginning of May many children are still in school and you can beat the summer rush during this timeframe. This is the perfect time of year to visit for summer weather, without the summer crowd. Expect a high of 88° and average low of 66°.
Additionally following the traditional school calendar, consider visiting Disney World the end of August or in September when many schools start is also a low crowd time to visit. While the crowds are great, the weather is hot and humid, with an average high of 90° and low of 73°. This month is also active hurricane season, and a higher average monthly rainfall compared to other months in the year.
If you would like to travel during the month of November, there is a sweet spot to visit with lower crowds after Veterans Day and prior to Thanksgiving week. Weather-wise November is perfect, with the least amount of monthly rainfall and comfortable temps. Expect highs of 78° and average lows of 59°.
After Thanksgiving is complete and prior to Christmas, the first couple of weeks in December generally draw a lower crowd. December also brings low monthly rainfall totals and comfortable temps with an average high of 73° and average lows of 52°.
As you can see many of the “off-season” times occur while children are in school, avoiding traditional school breaks and holidays. Also keep in mind, Disney Resort pools are heated.
