We went to the Magic Kingdom for Mother’s Day and had the opportunity to eat at the Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen Restaurant. I used the MyDisneyExperience app while in the Magic Kingdom to book us a reservation for lunch.
We arrived at the restaurant just as our toddler had fallen asleep. We checked in at the desk and they pointed us to plush arm chairs to await our skipper. We waited about 3 minutes before she arrived to take us to our table. We were seated in the Falls Family Parlor (also known as the Jungle Room) in a very comfortable table.
Jacob wasn’t thrilled that the Kid’s Mac and Cheese had ground beef inside, but we asked the Skipper if they could just make a plain batch for him. My husband ordered the Trader’s Sam Head-on Shrimp and I went with the “A lot at Steak” Salad. Emily is a Disney adult, so she ordered the Skip’s Mac and Cheese.
While we waited for our food, the Skipper brought us a couple plates of the Ambasha bread with fenugreek infused honey. It is so nice to dine at a Disney restaurant that has a bread service! Even the kids were thrilled at the taste of this bread and it’s dipping sauce.
The food was delivered about 15 minutes after we ordered it. They were even kind enough to go next door and get Molly Kate an order of french fries since they do not have any on their menu.
Our skipper was very attentive to us during the meal. We never had a single glass run empty. She checked on us multiple times and was very friendly and even cut a joke or two (just like the skippers do on the Jungle Cruise).

The food was okay. I wouldn’t say that it was $95 dollars good (the cost of our meal after the tip), but it was satisfying on a hot, crowded day. I do like that they only accept reservations same day so that those that plan a last minute trip to the Magic Kingdom (like us) have a place that they can dine.

Check out this video tour of the Skipper Canteen. I think this is one of the best themed Magic Kingdom restaurants.
