The last Disney Fund Deposit of the year! Does anyone else do that thing where they mark every time something is the “last of the year”? I said to my husband today, “This will be the last pizza night of the year.” His response? “A momentous occasion.”
But I love marking the last time for things because I love reflecting on growth and change. Even more, I love looking towards the bright, shiny future. The “lasts” of this year so quickly become the “firsts” of the new year. I am pumped about the first pizza night of the season, ya’ll.
In the spirit of reflection, I thought I would look back on my very first Disney Fund Deposit, all the way back in April. (Can you believe we’ve been doing this for 9 months??)
My first fund deposit was short. Both in funds and word count. I deposited $25 from Paypal, and wrote about six sentences on it. I had yet to grow into my storytelling skills. What I remember most about that post was how excited I was. I was excited about this journey, and doubly exciting about sharing it with you, my internet friends. I was looking forward to hearing your stories, too! I couldn’t wait to cheer you on as you saved towards your dreams.
I showed off my Dimes to Disney Jar, which would become the official mascot of these posts as well as inspire a blog post about making your own Dimes to Disney jars. I told you that you were doing a great job, which you were, and still are. I told you how the Saving to Disney course had changed my life, which is a little crazy in perspective. Because at that point, I was fresh out of the course and my life had changed, but now, I am almost a year out of the course and I can’t believe how different things are for me. From savings to budgeting to Christmas…there was not a spot that Saving to Disney did not touch. I wish I could go back in time and tell Kristen B. of April Past, “Just you wait. It’s going to get even better.”
This fund deposit, my last of the year, is propelled by Christmas gifts and a small settlement check. But more than that, it is propelled by hard work, determination, encouragement, Kristin Cooper, and a dream.
Total Goal: $3500
Last Week: $1990.89
Total Deposit: $442.74
$400, from Christmas gifts from family
$35.81, rolled over from grocery budget
$6.93, from a Settlement check
Still Need: $1548.15
If you were on this savings journey with me for the past 9 months, thanks for being here. I couldn’t have done it without you. You did an amazing job, and I’m thankful we are in this together. Here’s to even greater success in 2018. If you are new to the savings party, welcome. I’m so glad you’re here. I’ve got 7 months left to save for my 2018 Disney vacation, and I hope you’ll share your own savings journey, too. Wishing you joy, love, and pixie dust for 2018.
