The time has come for me to put my money where my mouth is.
You’ll remember, I wrote a post about putting birthday and holiday money towards your Disney fund. It’s a win-win situation. Your fund grows with no work from you, since the gift money was not part of your budget or expected income. Well guess who had her own birthday this week? This newly 34 year old gal! And what was her birthday wish? I’ll give you a hint. It rhymes with Lisney Berld.
This was a great week for my fund because it didn’t just stop at birthday cash. We have the money we had budgeted for my (eventually) free gym membership scheduled for this week as well. In a shocking twist of events, I was actually under budget for the month. This is shocking because I went over budget twice this month in my grocery shopping. It just goes to show, no matter how far down the spending rabbit hole you go, there’s always a way to pull yourself back up with some determination (and coupons).
Total Goal: $3500
Last Week: $2808.14
Total Deposit: $225.88
Cash: $165, from birthday gifts
Budget: $40, from free gym membership
Grocery Rollover: $20.88
Still Need: $2582.26
This was a great week for savings, in no small part because of that birthday money bump. Any birthdays or holidays coming up for you? What are your thoughts about putting some of those gifts aside for trips? How is your fund coming along? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
