This week has been pretty vanilla. I’m not going to lie to you guys.
I’ve been working on finishing up some craft orders, because I need to check them off my list, get them out of my craft room and feel like I have some control over this crazy world we live in right now. Did I mention my kiddo has been outselling me? Because she has. Little heifer doesn’t know how lucky she is to have “aunts” and “uncles” (no relation) across the country willing to support her and buy her art. I feel like the grinch, when his heart grows three sizes, because you guys- my kiddo went from telling her Dad that she wasn’t a real artist to offering to give me lessons after her overnight success.
I will admit, seeing her drive to make money makes me proud. As a small child, I wove potholders and sold them almost exclusively to my mom and MawMaw. I took the coins I made from those potholders and chucked them directly into my piggy bank. Thus a Savear was born. In another proud moment, my daughter also wanted to spend her money to buy her Dad a gift. Thank God for the Dollar Tree, where she can buy him something with her own money and feel very proud, not realizing she spent only a dollar. He is now the proud owner of a ghost that cackles and says “TRICK OR TREAT” in a manner that makes you want to stab your ear drums out. I’ve decreed it will go to his office, where I don’t have to be around it. Still, she is very proud. That’s the important thing.
While my kiddo is plugging away earning money for her piggy bank (and savings account) I haven’t done so bad myself. I’m currently working on earning some amazon prime credit, running movies in the background even as I type this. ABH guys….Always Be Hustlin’.
I finally got my deposit back from our California trip that had to be cancelled because of this disaster of a year. I won’t be adding that to my earnings this week because my goal is not to use any of my Disneyland money to finance our 2021 Walt Disney World trip. I have hopes that someday we’ll get to complete that trip, but I want Disneyland to be up and running at it’s full capacity before we fly out to the opposite coast.
Quick money tip: I have had several returns this week. Items that didn’t meet my expectations or flat out didn’t work as they should. If I replace the items, I just use those returns to pay for the new items, the other versions of things I wanted to purchase. One thing I bought, flopping fish cat toys that were MURDER on my ears, I do not plan to buy again. Since I already “spent” that money on an item that performed poorly, I will take the return money and sock it away in savings. This is a great way to trick yourself into saving, because you really did already spend those dollars. Rather than let a subpar item sit in the corner of the room and gather dust, I just returned it and pretended that money was still spent. Whatever it takes, friends.
