I love helping readers with couponing and Disney advice. Here is the answers to this week’s questions.
Just wondering if you were planning another Couponing to Disney trip any time soon? – Katie
We are discussing one in September for FREE dining, but nothing is official yet. I’ll be sure to post as soon as we decide for sure.
I can’t seem to get my husband to not spend the extra & unexpected funds he receives from his pay or that he knows of we receive. All other extra funds he’s not aware of, I’m able to put aside in a savings account. How do I get him to not spend the hidden and extra funds we have coming in? He sees it as money to spend now. I see it has money to pay off bills and save. – Martha
I would involve him in budgeting so he can see where else the money is needed. You might also consider giving him a weekly allowance that he is allowed to spend without any questions from you, but be careful not to go over the set amount. If you are saving for something, like a Disney trip, make sure that he is on board too. If you are both excited about what you are saving for, it is more likely that you will both be successful.
Do you ever take advantage of free dining at Disney? Do you think it is worth it? – Lorrie
We took advantage of Free dining in 2011 and it was nice. But each year, there are more and more exclusions that make me second guess the value of free dining. I will post a breakdown when/if free dining is announced for 2015.
Our family is addicted to Disney. We try to go once a year as a family. We are considering trying out the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party this year. We weren’t sure if the party is worth the extra money? Have you been to this party before and would you recommend it? We are not huge halloween fans….but thought it looked like fun. We just don’t know much about it. Any advice you have is greatly appreciated. – Jessica
I went to the party on my last trip and we had an amazing time! Every attraction was open and the lines were so short! Space Mountain had a 10 minute wait. You do not have to participate in any of the festivities if you don’t want to, but you can use the opportunity to ride with little/no waits and meet characters that you don’t normally see. I would suggest that you take the morning of the party off so you are well rested and ready to stay until midnight.
My family of 9 (one infant) is on a tight budget for our next WDW vacation. We’ll be staying off-site, and our tickets will not be part of a package. But I’ve been thinking about adding one night in two rooms at a Value Resort to the front-end of our stay in order to get “free” MagicBands (and to enjoy a Disney resort for a couple days). If I do that, we wouldn’t start touring the parks until the day after we check out. Could we still link our MagicBands to our park tickets? Also, would we be able to make FP+ reservations 60 days in advance as resort guests, or does that only apply to days you’re staying at a resort and going to the parks on the same day? Thanks! – Elizabeth
Yes, I believe that you will all receive MagicBands that can be linked to your park tickets. To make the Fastpass+ reservations, you will have to have your tickets already linked to your MagicBands on the MyDisneyExperience website. Are you planning on buying your tickets through Disney?
Be sure to stop by the blog on Monday at 6:30 pm CST to ask your questions!
I see that you mentioned Free dining in September… do you know what dates they are offering this year? Thanks!
Not yet. I think they usually announce around July. :)
