It’s starting to heat up here! And I hate using the oven to cook dinner during the summer because it makes it so much hotter in the house than it already is. Which means having to use more A/C to cool it off.
Reader CJ had this to say: During the summer we only use the grill for cooking, that way I am not heating up my house with a gas oven.
I also like to use the slow cooker in the summer. Some people tend to pack up their slow cooker after winter’s over, but slow cookers are great for more than just stews and chili! You can cook any kind of meat in the slow cooker without heating up the house!
Cold suppers are also good during the summer – sandwiches, pasta salads, chicken salad, sides of fruit, etc.

I saw on pinterest ~~~ Use the crock pot to bake potatos in..wrap in foil, and prepair how you normally would. cook on low all day, or whatever time works for you…I havent tried this yet, but LOVE the idea..sometimes a baked potato just sounds so good..even in the summer!!!
I’m wondering if that would work on sweet potatoes too? I dread the thought of my oven cooking for 50 minutes to bake a sweet potato! I eat them plain, and around that time of the month, they help to decrease PMS issues!

I have a really cool solar cooker. It would work best in a place like Arizona, but it also works here in my beloved New Mexico.
We use our George forman grill for almost everything. Grilling chicken making quesadillas hamburgers, sausages. Whats better is it doesn’t get the kithen all hot like the stove does so it has to be saving us money on the ac bill.
I love making pizza on the grill. I use a (new) large ceramic floor tile, face down. I pre-cook the dough a little, then top with whatever we want. Even my picky 4 year old loves it!
We do french fries on the grill too. We love summer cooking that doesn’t heat up the house!
Wow! That sounds pretty awesome.
