If you are part of a group of parents (such as a Mom’s group, club, etc), you could organize a Halloween costume swap. Have everyone bring last year’s costumes to the swap and they can exchange them for costumes that will fit their children this year. Make sure that you require the costumes to be clean and in good condition. Nobody wants to bring a nice costume and be stuck with a dirty, ripped costume.

But if you are like me and your kids grow fast than any one else’s we found some awesome super hero PJs on clearance and bought those as a costume and made the accessories at home. This year my son will be Buzz Lightyear in with home made wings fashioned out of a diaper box and foil! And now he has a new set of PJs too.

My youngest daughter’s pto is also doing this what a great idea! Unfortunately she is the youngest and we have a box of costumes that she get to look through so we don’t need it but what a great idea for other families especially with people not having as much money.
