This tip comes from my reader Veronica…
Cut up a roll of Bounty paper towels in half (it has to be bounty, cheaper brands will crumble)
Place the half in a round container with a good lid. I have used plastic coffee containers in the past, but the wipes smelled kind of funny.
in a separate mixing bowl, mix 2cups of water, 1tbs of baby oil, and 1 tbs of baby wash. Pour over paper towels, close the lid and they’ll be ready in 10 minutes.
You can adjust the amount of water, oil and wash, depending on how wet, soft or soapy you want them.

If you really want to save money, buy a yard and a half of flannel from a fabric store (JoAnn’s regularly has it 50% off) and cut it in into 7×7 squares and zig zag the edges. I wet them and then put them folded interlocking into our wipe warmer. This works amazing for us!! I usually fill the warmer once a day and take wipes in a bag when we go out.

I started making my own about a month ago. I also make mine out of viva. I love them. Will not go back to buying them unless I get them free or next to nothing. Then I use those ones to travel. Also I use distilled water with them so they don’t mold.

I made these when my girls~now 25 & 26~were babies. It is much easier if you use an electric knife to cut the paper towels.

We just use baby washcloths that we purchased at Target for super cheap. We throw them in with the laundry and we are done. Initial investment of about $10 but we have used them 3 1/2 years already for 2 kids with lots of life to go.
When our oldest was born the hospital did not provide wipes, only washcloths. They said even the mild ones were too harsh for many babies. So we just kept with the wash cloth thing and it has worked well for us.

I never thought of doing this, but it sounds like it’s a good idea. Can’t wait to give it a try!

I haven’t done this, but a friend of mine uses the cheap-o CVS ones for like .59 cents a roll when she did this a few years back. She never paid a dime for baby wipes and said they worked fine. I guess it depends upon if they’ve improved or not since 2007…

I have been making my own for years. So easy and very gentle.

I use Viva paper towels for our wipes. I have used other brands, but the Viva are the best (in my opinion) hands down! :-D
