When you have bananas that are about to go bad instead for throwing them away peel them, cut them into chunks and freeze them. You can use these frozen to make smoothies and ice cream or thaw them out as needed to make bread, pancakes, cakes, muffins, etc. The best recipe for banana ice cream is to put frozen banana chunks into a blender or food processor and you have cheap, healthy, instant banana ice cream!

I guess I need a good recipe for banana bread:)
I always make banana bread with ripe bananas. I actually buy at kroger the ones that they put on sale because bananas are very ripe and you can found them very cheap and to me they taste better (in the banana bread)
Such a great tip!!! I am going to try!!
I have a food dehydrator and when our bananas get a little brown we dry them, that way we have healthy snacks on hand all the time!
I buy reduce bananas, usually half off. Come home and stick them in the freezer with the peel on. When I am ready to use I pull them out of the freezer let them sit for a few minutes or run them under warm water. Just enough so the peel comes off. If there are still parts of the peel on the banana run it under warm water and peel the rest off including the string. Now they are ready to use in smoothies or ice cream. The do not turn brown when in the peels.
You can use them in banana bread and can’t tell a difference. I do it all the time!
I tried this a few months ago, but the frozen bananas are very brown. Are they still ok to use?
They are still fine. It doesn’t LOOK as good, but that’s ok, unless you just want to eat them plain- it might throw you off a bit. I leave the peels on so the inside color stays pretty lol!
You can also feed the peel to pet rabbits! Mine LOVE banana peel, frozen or unfrozen :).
