This tip comes from my reader Jodie:
Whenever you get bars of soap, unwrap them as soon as you get them, and put them in a dry place. Let them dry out as long as possible. They’ll last much longer because they won’t turn into a goopy mess.

Neat idea. I recently switched back to bar soap, not only because it’s cheaper but because it is better for the enviroment only having to recycle the box instead of a big bottle of plastic.
I do this and yes it makes them easier to grate. I used a small chopper and it grinds them into a powder for my laundry detergent.

Oh this is neat!! I just wish now that I used more bar soap in my house. Lol. My mom Usually bought shower gel and I use it now too. Hubby used to use them until he realize how much easier shower gel was. I could probably use this to make them easier to grate when I make liquid soap though…
I’ve never heard of this before! I’m going to have to try it! Thanks for the tip.
My mom has always done this, she puts the bars of soap in clothes drawers so they make the clothes smell fresh while they’re hardening!
