A money saving tip from a reader:
Have you ever wondered what you could do with all those newspaper?
Well, if you have a fireplace or fire pit, you can easily turn your newspaper pile into fire starter logs.
Just fill up your kitchen sink with water, take each section of the paper individually and soak it in the water and then roll them up and let them dry completely. And that’s all there is to it!

another great freebie for any kind of firepit or fireplace, is to save your dryer lint. i place it in old socks, panty hose, anything that i no longer use because of hole or lack of strechability. when you start a fire, just place either the “lint sock” or just a couple piece of lint in, and be very cautious, the lint is flamable! just think about how many house fires start because the dryer lint is filled up! it’s a very cheap and effective way to start a fire, even if you don’t have a dryer, you probally know someone who does! and you could probally ask at the laundry mat as well!
we have bondfires all the time in the summer, and use this method all the time! just remember it is very flamable stuff! one time i lit a fire, and my hands must have been damp when i started the fire, because i had some lint stuck to my hand, and it caught on fire! so the sock idea is great, because all you do is place it in, and don’t get it on your hands!
just another tid bit for you!!
Altho this may be fine for a firepit. The fire department does not recommend this for your fireplace. The newspaper is not good for the chimmney.
