One way that I save money is by cutting the men in my family’s hair. I bought a $20 pair of sheers at Walmart 2 years ago and it was money very well spent. Cutting hair is so easy! You just put on the guard you need (the set I have came with 8) and run it over the head. Their hair is short and well groomed in no time.
I saved $30 by doing this at home!
I just started cutting my husband’s hair last fall. I spent a decent amount on the trimmer, but since he likes getting his hair cut every 4 or 5 weeks – it’s more than paid for itself by now! Cutting his hair gave me the confidence to cut my daughter’s too. Since I only get a haircut once a year and my younger child doesn’t have enough hair to cut – we’ve erradicated our salon spending!
Jason won’t let me cut his hair. :(
Totally off topic, but I have that exact same picture that’s hanging on your wall. :)
I’ve been cutting my husband’s hair for a while but I wanted to take my 1st son for a special 1st haircut with the pictures, certificate, etc. $18 + tip for a 1 year old’s haircut! I nearly had a heart attack!!! That’s the ONLY haircut my boys have ever gotten at a salon.
With 5 guys (4boys and hubby) in the house this saves me a TON!!! The only time I splurge for a haircut for them is when my brother in law got married, and the boys all got thier hair cut in the magic kingdom(which is now a tradition). Anyone who hasn’t done this it is not too bad. I think we paid like $15, which I don’t think isn’t that much more than going to a super cuts or whatever. They got “hidden mickeys” put in thier hair. To make things even more special the last time my youngest got his first haircut there. They gave hime a pair of mickey ears that said first hair cut, and a certicifacte. Now I don’t know if they were supposed to charge us for the hat but they didn’t. We went right as soon as they opened and I think that it took us maybe 1 hour to get all 5(4boys and my dad, who also got a mustashe grooming) to get done. They are only open form like 9-5, and have a long wait, so get there early!!
what is this place called do they do girls hair as well? can you make resevations? I will deff. look into it
Hey, I was just there this week…it is called the Barber Shop and it is right on Main Street at Disney. Once you go through the main gates and pass through the stroller rental area, there is a circular area (with Walt Disney’s statue sitting on a bench), and the Barber shop is on the far left…you will see the “Barber pole”. This barber shop is right as Main Street begins, but over on the left-hand side. The sign inside said $18 for baby’s first haircut and $16 for other haircuts. It was a small room with 3 barbers inside and about 2 families ahead of me. I decided not to get my daughter’s first haircut, as she was in a pageant today. I don’t think you need reservations, but just get there first thing. :) Yes, they do male/female haircuts and all ages.
I’ve been cutting my hubby’s since before we were married with my mom’s clipper. She recently got a new one, and gave me her old one! So now we don’t even have to leave home to cut his hair!
hubby wont let me touch his but i do my sons (5) and sor far the 3 girls (7,3,6m) and hubby cuts mine in a short bob that i always wear as a pony tail since i dont like it down with 4 kids used to wear it down but you would not belive the things i found in it cause they had to run there fingers through it lol
I know what you mean!! My youngest uses my hair as his blankie when he goes to sleep. He likes to rub the hair between his fingers when he is falling asleep! I have to make sure I wash his hands first!!
I do this….but it helps that I am a hairdresser by trade.
HAHA that definitely does help. ;)
I’ve been cutting my fiance’s hair almost since we met 2 years ago. I was really nervous at first but soon learned it’s way easy plus he doesn’t really care (he says I’m the only one that he has to worry about looking at a bad hair cut :) ). I just gave him a hair cut yesterday, however I told him he needed to have a professional hair cut or two before the wedding…and then we can go back to this after all the pretty pictures have been taken!
I cut hubby and our boys hair too, saves so much money. But NOT brave enough to let loose on mine! I cut my own.
I cut my sons and husbands hair it is an easy thing to do. The only mistake I have made is buying a cheap trimmer at Ross. The thing never did work right. Walmart has affordable trimmers, that is where I bought mine. I even asked my son to, oh so slightlytrim, my hair last week.
Same here! I cut my son and husband’s hair. Great money saver!!!
I’ve been doing that for the past 6+ years with my husband. It really does save a ton of money since he gets it cut about once a month. I do that with my son too. My husband teases me about paying for the girls to get their hair cuts, but the boys, they just get buzzed. :p
We started doing the same thing this year. I was able to get a pair of clippers for free at Walgreens using my RR’s and other deals that made me money. I love getting stuff for free!
I started cutting my husband’s hair shortly after we were married, almost 7 years ago. I cut my son’s hair, too; he’s three and a half and has never had a professional haircut. I’m on my third pair of clippers, but we’ve saved hundreds this way!
