I know we all re-use tissue paper and gift bags, but if I don’t have a gift bag that will work..I buy the plain gift bags for really cheap and let my daughter decorate them with some markers and then just print out a personalized name tag that matches the theme of the party…for example, we had two different Tangled parties this summer and I used Pascal..tape the tag to the bag (so they can save the tag and re-use the bag if my daughter didn’t draw on them) ..it makes for a great personalized part of the gift, for some rainy day activities for my daughter, and most family members and friends love the bags themselves.
Also I have found in the Target bargain area some of those re-useable bags for $1.00….(our Target just had My Little Pony)..So I bought a couple and used those as present bags instead of the paper bags..they were cheaper than the decorated bags and reusable…Every little bit helps and most of the time wrappings are wasted money…

When I get the Sunday paper, I save the colored comics to use as wrapping paper for kids’ birthdays. My mom did this when I was a kid, too, and the comic strip “wrapping paper” was always my favorite!

I am in the process of cleaning out my office, AKA “where it all ends up”. I found several maps because I’m an AAA member. I’m using those for wrapping paper, just like Penny. Kids love maps too!
In our family, we don’t care what kind of wrapping paper or card we get. I’ve received a Christmas card that had Christmas marked out and Birthday written in. The message is changed to make it fit to the occasion. It’s fun to get. I’ve also received happy anniversary bags used for Christmas presents. It’s pretty funny.
At our house, Santa does not bring wrapped gifts. His gifts are nicely displayed when we wake up. That has saved me alot in wrapping paper as well as takes a little off of my christmas to-do list :)
I use old maps and atlases this is great for a guys gift
We buy reusable shopping bags on clearance after holidays, when some grocery stores have holiday print ones and use those as gift bags. $0.50 – $1 for a sturdy bag that won’t rip and encourages them to be greener is awesome!
Dollar Tree always has $1 wrapping paper and gift bags/tissue in a variety of colors and themes. Cheaper than anything else out there.
After Christmas when the wrapping paper is 90% off, I buy the solid red or gold paper and it can be used for just about any gift.
Very true!
