How can you save money at the movies? (because they are quite expensive!) Here are a few tips
- Eat before you go so you’re not tempted to stop at the concession stand and pay for (overpriced) popcorn!
- See a matinee – while still a hefty price, it’s much cheaper than a peak hour show
- Join your theater’s reward program where savings can be on tickets or concessions
- Find out if they have discount days. $1 movies, $1 concessions, one of our local theaters even shows a FREE kid’s movie once a week during the summer!
How do you save on a movie night out?

I’m bad I sneek in my own snacks lol I also go on $1.50 day!
Go to Walgreens or Dollar Tree & get big box of candy for $1 each. Yes I’m also one of those people who sneak water or juice in my purse, because with 4 people going it can break the bank. The only time we get popcorn at the theater is occassionally during the free summer shows. They are being nice to give us a free movie so we want to help them out some. Of course they know you have beverages on you when you don’t get a drink because it is so salty. LOL
Wish they had healthy options at the concession stands like fresh fruit salad instead of a $10 bucket of popcorn dripping in butter and salt or frozen yogurt instead of the nachos dripping in cheese. If I have to pay for over priced food I would like to have a healthier option,
There may be other discount tickets available. Our AAA office used to sell discounted movie tickets (for members only of course). Be sure to ask about discounts at the theater. Another option for our military families is discounted admission at many theaters, at least those located near military locations.
Two of the local radio stations in my area offer half-off movie tickets on their websites. Two tickets for $10.00 you cannot beat that.
Please help if you can. I would appreciate it. I hope it is ok to post this here. I know how kind everyone on here is.
I am shaving my head in memory of my friend’s son who just lost his battle with cancer. He was only 20 months old when he passed away this weekend. I am trying to raise money so no one else has to go through the pain of losing a child. I want to raise money for childhood cancer so they can work towards a cure and give aide to families who need it.
I am hoping to raise at least $1000 in the fight against childhood cancer. If you are able to donate, I would appreciate it. My donation page is below and will direct you straight to my donation page. The even takes place March 23 and I can load pics of my bald head after. Thank you!!

For you military readers.. we go see the movies on base. It is only 4.50 for adults and 3.50 for kids (regardless of time) and every 10th ticket is free. You have to wait a couple weeks until the movie has been in the outside theaters but it is worth the wait to us!! Also, check the schedule for free previews. Some movies will come to the base before outside theaters for a free military preview. That is how we saw Captain America. Also, I always bring small plastic bowls in my purse to split the popcorn up for the kids!
We try for matinees but sometimes on special movies they have it right after matinee time. We do get the popcorn and have decided after this last time since it’s just the two of us we can do with the small popcorn and drink. never buy candy there. I also belong to the Regal club and earn points toward free food
AMC has unlimited refills on Large drinks and popcorn. They will give you extra trays and I split the popcorn between four trays (for four kids) and get a refill right away. For drinks, I bring in my own cups or you can get the courtesy cups and fill them too. I can feed my family of 6 for about $16. I also have the AMC membership (which I got for $6 during the holidays) so I pay for a medium but get the upgrade for free:) We can’t go to the movies without eating popcorn. ALSO- we always go before noon to get the $6 seats.
