You can purchase one of those foaming hand soap dispensers and once all the soap is gone, refill it with regular liquid soap following these directions:
Pour one tablespoon of liquid hand soap into the empty dispenser
Fill the rest of the dispenser with warm water leaving a little space at the top
Screw on the lid and shake
Pump dispenser a few times to get the foam started
With this tip, one bottle of regular liquid hand soap could last you a year!

I have the automatic soap dispensers (got a great deals on them last year.) I love them because i do think it has cut down on sharing germs in this house but they don’t refill with foaming soap. :( I will have to look for the pinterest recipe for making hand soap. My son has had really dry hands this winter and our DR thinks its from “antibacterial” soaps. Would be great if I could make one with less ingredients and hopfully gentler on his skin. Thanks for the ideas!
You can even use shower gel for the hand soap. Good if you’ve gotten a lot of clear shower gel for free or really cheap.
thanks for this recipe… i tried it before and it didnt work and now i know why. i used to much soap hehe. yay now i can try again. :) i also make my own all purpose cleaners and laundry detergent. i can make them for like pennies on the dollar and they work just as well.
I like this idea. I have an empty bath & body soap container. I will try your idea.
I totally did this the other day and thought of this blog as I was doing it. I learned the trick from the Pampered Chef suds dispenser, but thought I’d try refilling my Dawn suds pump with regular Dawn (even though the bottle ‘tells’ you not to). Worked like a charm!
I do that with my dish detergent, too! Saves a ton of money!
I recently made my own hand soap from a link on pinterest. It was very easy. I used bar soap that I already had, used ECB’s to purchase liquid glycerin (which I still have a ton of), and a few other items and for less than $2 out of pocket I have 1.5 gallon of liquid hand soap that doesn’t have parabens in it! We have 4 bathrooms that have sinks that need soap as well as the kitchen sink…
