We all have those days – work late, ball practice, errands – and it’s so tempting to go through the drive through or stop for pizza to make dinner simple. But with a slow cooker and a little thinking ahead, you can save!
When you know that you’re going to be later getting home than usual and not feel like cooking dinner, put dinner in the slow cooker that morning so you won’t be tempted to spend more grabbing something quick andk convenient.
Slow cooker dinners don’t have to be elaborate either. Put some ground beef or turkey in the slow cooker in the morning and by dinner time, you’ll have meat ready for spaghetti, tacos or sloppy joes. Cook chicken breasts in the slow cooker and serve them over rice and topped with salsa. Or chicken drumsticks covered in BBQ sauce cooked in the slow cooker means BBQ chicken by dinner time.
So don’t forget, plan ahead to save!
Don’t forget, I’m always looking for your best money saving tip, so please share!

My favorite crockpot recipe is chicken enchiladas: I throw 4 boneless skinless chicken breast (can even be frozen), 1 jar salsa, & 1 taco seasoning packet into the crockpot for 8 hours on low. I then take 2 forks & shred the chicken. I add a can of cream of chicken soup & let cook for a 1/2 hour more. I put in in tortillas & add cheese & whatever I else I feel like. Super easy & super tasty!!
On Reynolds.com there is a $1 coupon for the slow cooker liners. They really make is much easier to clean up your slow cooker, especially if you want to use it again the next day and don’t want to have to scrub it! :)
I love my slow cooker! It’s very convenient and nice to have a hot meal waiting for us at the end of the day. Plus, here during the summer we get triple digit temps and there is no way I’m turning the oven on. But with the slow cooker I’m able to cook some oven type meals.
I love my crock pot! During football season we use it at east three times a week! I also cook up some chicken breasts to shred for different recipes in it. One of our favorites is Skinny Enchiladas which I found on Pinterest. My oldest would eat it every night!
I always use mine, especially when I work days (I work 7-7 on my day swing) put it in before I leave and then it is ready for them for dinner. I do a lot of chicken. I usually throw a couple bags of boneless breasts in with some chicken broth and cream of chicken. Then I shred it to use for BBQ chicken, or easy chicken biscuits ( couple cans of mixed veggies, cream of chicken, and a can of biscuits easy peasy). I also use it for roasts.
